Check the relay for this, and have the alternator checked,if it is not charging correct, then this could be the problem, even though it has a good strong battery, the alternator may cause this.

Put a volt meter on the battery start the engine, turn the lights on,and the ac on high blower motor, the volts should be 13.65 volts to 14.25 volts, this is the range.

Instrument cluster (except PRNDL)and climate control background lights work intermittently

Intermittent electrical problems like this are RARELY caused on the power side of the circuit....almost ALWAYS caused by a poor ground connection.

Saab one headlight won't turn off when I turn if the ignition the light remains on. Only the driver side head light

Some cars leave a light on if you switch off with the indicator/turn light left on. Put the stalk to the "OFF" position and see if it goes out.

Why does the high beam indicator stay on when normal headlights are turned on , the headlights and indicators will not work ?

sounds as though it may be a column stalk issue if all these functions are on a column stalk it may have become faulty.
It the light switch for main/dip beam is discrete may be a BCM or other electrical fault.
The first is the most likely but, as column stalks may cost a lot of cash, have a competent auto electrician take a look first

Why won't the running lights shut off

The running lights are low level lights and not full power like the headlights. They are designed to work in daytime only.

You should have a switch to turn them off. Mine is on the steering wheel turn signal stalk.
hope this helps

Probably a bad headlight switch. To replace, take the negative battery cable off. On the light switch, behind the dash, there is a plunger button on the switch body. Hold the button in and pull out the switch stalk, all the way out of the switch. If there is a retainer ring on the dash, unscrew it from the switch. Then the switch can be removed from the dash-it will hang down where you can unplug the electrical connector from the switch. To install a new switch, reverse the procedure. Check the electrical connector for damage, being burned or melted type damage.
If it turns out not the headlight switch, it could be the dimmer switch. If you have a voltmeter, you can test wires for power before condemning the light switch, but it is probably the switch.

Dipped headlights are intermittent

Look for the RELAYS for the lights. They are usually on the fuse box. Replace the headlight relay.

Turn on headlights the the dash light fues blows

i have this problem as well before now and turned out to the light stalk ,you turn it to side lights and no problem but when you turn it further for the dip lights it pops the fuse and this was the switch stalk it had fallen apart where the wires run up the had another similar problem but it wasnt a ford it was a ??? cannot remember what ?? but the main beam bulb had gone funny and it produced a direct short across the bulb and this blew a fuse as well ,think it was a older skoda fabia ?? sorry old age creeps up on everyone

No head light high and low beam fuse is good

You have to check the headlight switch, and headlight relay, as these are the only two components that control both high and low beam headlights. You should hear a slight click from the control stalk switch as you turn it, and then you should hear a faint relay click from elsewhere a fraction of a second afterwards.

Also, if this is a car with daytime running lights, the Honda DRL modules are known to develop thermal cracks in the solder on their relays; this is an easy fix for anyone with simple electrical repair experience. This will often start as an intermittent problem and gradually worsen.

Followup with more detail if you check the above.

Automatic lights wont switch on

From manual:
Automatic operation
With the engine running, vehicles fitted with a light sensor, the dipped beam headlights light up automatically as light begins to
fade; stalk 1 does not need to be turned (position 0).
To deactivate or reactivate this function, move the end of stalk 1 twice consecutively from 0 to side light position, with the engine stopped and the ignition on.
A bleep confirms the deactivation of this function, and two bleeps confirm its reactivation.

Headlamp failure 940 1991

Usually faults such as this centre around the stalk switch. It sounds as if one of the connections between the stalk and the relay are broken.
This may be a supply to the stalk switch, or more likely the return to the relay.
Check the switched supply to the relay first in the on position with a volt meter. It is usually a bad contact.

Best of luck, and thank you for using Fixya.

Thank you.
