Does trcuk have anti theft? He may need to transfer his ignition switch and key. It has a chip in the key if it has antitheft.

Could be a problem with the harness going into the key switch or the rod between the lock cylinder and the switch.

MY CARWILL NOT START EVERYTHING ESLE COMES ON BUT WHEN I TURN THE IGNITION TO START THE CAR I WILL NOT CRANK

tap on the starter with a hammer not like your driving a nail in just some light rapping on the outside casing, if the car started look at a new starter. If not do some more testing you need to test the S terminal on the start with your multi meter to see if it gets 10 - 12 volts when the key is turned to the start possition if voltage is there and you also have constant battery voltage on the large red wire at the starter replace the starter. if voltage is not present you will have to start looking at your ignition switch this is located in your steering colum and requires alot more involved work. this will mean dissasembling the steering colum to get to the switch.

When I put the key in and turn it it sounds like the solenoid but now will not even engae the starter...coincidentally the radio has major static leading me to believe a wire /ground might be the problem

My Son had same problem. Without warning the starter would not engage. I checked all connections, power to starter, ect. Solution: needed new starter. Sorry, but sometimes starters just go out, without warning signs.

I have a 91 s10, 4.3L 4x4. When I turn ignition key, the starter does not engage. No noise, no clicking.... nothing. Lights, radio and all other accessories work fine. Where should I start? It has a new...

Almost certainly its the relay. In the fuse box there will be a number of box like objects. One of these is the starter relay. Check with manual and replace the relay. Sometimes you can get some temporary relief by tapping the relay or removing it and replacing it. If that doesn't work you'll need a new one.

Starting Problems

there is a rod that goes from your ignition switch down to a box in the steering colum. and when you turn the key it pushes the rod wich inturn conects the electrical circut and tells the starter to engage. you can fix this by takeing the compleat colum out of the car and rebuilding it but if you can finda colum in a junk yard it would be alot easier and faster to replace the whole colum n if you do finda a colum in a junk yard make sure they have the key for the ignition before you buy it from them
