Question about 1994 Jaguar XJ6

1994 jag xjs bad fuel pump, the tank is behind the back seat, I've removed the plate behind the tank in the trunk and can't get the tank to budge, are there bolts that hold this in that I can't see?

There are 2 lines coming from the back bottom of the tank. They are metal shielded lines and don't give much. They are up behind the differential. The lines are held on by two clips. You don't have to remove them, just turn. It takes a little strength to get the lines off but they will break loose. They are just push lines. Once you get them off, the tank will come right out. I just did it a week ago.

    Be careful when you get the tank out and loosen the lock ring. My Jag is a 93 but I think they are pretty similar. The fuel pump is in a plastic cylinder and it is held in the tank on a rubber stand. My cyclinder was attached to the stand with a zip tie. When you get th cap off the cylinder, be careful to notice how everything comes out because it has to go back the same way. Have fun, I did.

    My car, a 1994 XJS, 4.0L, 2 2 convertible. I suspect this may apply to a '95 and maybe a '92-'93. I am not a professional mechanic. I just replaced the fuel pump using a instructions and comments I put together from various Internet sites. Many of the instructions are wrong or so vague it's hard to figure out what to do. There are no "straps" holding the tank in a '94 XJS. There is instead a large metal plate that covers the entire back of the tank (behind the spare) that must be removed. Also, none of the instructions address the convertible issues and what to do with all the wiring and the hydraulic mechanism in the trunk. Anyway, the hardest part in removing the fuel tank was removing the two fuel lines that attach to the lower driver's side corner of the tank. Unfortunately, by the time you get to this step you are well into the removal procedure and there's no turning back. Remember, all the gas needs to be drained before you proceed with this step. It's easier if you have a lift but I jacked the car up on the drivers side to get at these lines, which are located above the axle. The wire clips that lock these lines have a tab at the 12 o'clock position that must be rotated 90 deg CW before you can pull the lines off. You can't see them but you will feel the tabs when you put your hand up on top of each connector. Once the clips are rotated, 90 deg, you wiggle the connector and pull the line off. The outside line is harder to pull and I ended up using vise grips to get enough pull leverage. If you rotate these clips back to the 12 o'clock position, when you reinstall the tank, you push the lines back on until then snap into place. I have a lot of other subtle tips on the fuel tank removal process and if anyone is interested, you can contact me offline @ Bill Bevan.

google youtube and find out if there is a video pertaining to changing your fuel pump..U might be able to access it from under the back seat or from in the trunk...there for u wont have to drop the tank..sounds like a bad fuel hose from tank to fuel filter via Engine

remove covers in boot behind seat there are mounting brackest there hopfully not rusted take off bolts remove brackets remove filler pipe but getting it out is a carry on as its a tight fit may need to remove back seat as well

I HAVE A 1994 hYANDAI eXEL 3 DOOR HATCH fuel pump needs to be replaced can I do this myself and what are the procedures.

I researched this vehicle on Hyundai's Website & couldn't determine if there is an access plate/port under the rear seat bottom to get to the fuel pump. The fuel pump in this particular year/model is an in-tank type. If you remove the rear seat bottom and check to see if there's an access plate, you can get to it from the floor of the back seat (seat bottom removed). If there is no access plate, then the fuel tank will need to be lowered (or maybe even taken out) to get to the fuel pump.

The fuel pump is located under the chassis, in the gas tank. You can often gain access for testing and replacing it by removing the rear seats and opening the small panel that is under the seat.

go into trunk and remove the trunk liner just behind the seats.....pull it towards the back of the car to remove.....look for a metal plate on the passenger side with several screws in it.....this is the access panel for the fuel the 95 riviera you do not have to drop the tank as the manual says......remove panel, disconnect ring that holds pump, disconnect lines and remove carefully......reverse to install....

My fuel pump went out on my 1987 honda accord dx and everyone says it under the backseat but i cant find it do i have to drop the tank or wat please help fast. lim

I recently replaced the fuel pump on my 87 LXi. Drop the seat, and pull back the carpet from the trunk. You'll see two little round cover plates tarred to the floor right behind the seat back. Pry the driver side plate loose, and you'll see the cover for the fuel pump assembly underneath - it has a plug, a banjo bolted fuel line, and vent hose attached to it. Remove these, and remove 5 or 6 nuts with a 10mm socket, and lift the fuel pump assembly out, taking care to tilt it accordingly while lifting.

Before removing it though, take the plug loose and use a voltmeter to verify that you get 12vdc to the pump when the ignition is turned on. You should see the 12v for 2 seconds after the key is turned.

Fuel pump is accessed through a hole below the back seat. Remove the seat and there is a rubber round cover over each fuel pump. Fuel pumps are held in place with a large round retaining ring that is screwed off.
