Question about 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Truck

1 Answer

I have a 2000 Dodge 1500 and it downshifts hard, especially into overdrive. Also it won't change gears until it hits about 3100 rpm. Im thinking it could be the transmission filter. Backflushing the transmission a good idea? Changing the filter?

It's worth a try, but it sounds like some internal transmission problems. Check the color of the fliud and see if there is a burnt smell to the fluid.

I have a 95 silverado c1500 with 4l60e trans and it wont go into overdrive

overdrive is the fourth gear.D1,D2,D3,D4 now drive truck at 80 kmh
cruise at steady speed no fuel pedal movement, downshift from D4 to D3 you should feel RPM raise .. after push brake pedal a little you should see RPM raise 300 to 400 rpm.
shift pattern is 1st gear ,second gear,3rd gear and lock up(torque converter clutch). 4th gear with lock up
hope it helps

I have a 99 Dodge ram 2500 5.9 v8 4x4. When I put it in to gear the transmission doesn't feel solid. And when driving it tends to run around 1500 to 2000 rpm just to get any power to the rear wheels. The...

No, it is your clutches, your torque converter is your main oil pump problems with these are very rare your tranny is tired and needs overhauling

Trans down shifts at 60 while cruising

Thinking it's coming out of lockup not actually downshifting,
possibly brake pedal switch adjustment,TPS, or lockup solonid is
faulty. Notice how you can cruise at 60 and just barely touch
the brake pedal,it will come out of overdrive, you can feel it.
If you have a tach the lockup will only change the RPM about
500 ,if it was downshifting it would be more like 2000.

Do you mean upshifting starts way early? Going from 2nd to 3rd in other words?
Ireally don't know your transmission, but the alternator problem might've possibly spiked and hurt your shifting solenoids in the ******. don-ohio (:^)

The overdrive disengages when road speed drops below the threshold. Normally, when you speed up above the threshold you should be able to simply reengage overdrive. You may have a faulty speed sensor preventing that.

94 gmc 4x4 1500 overdrive sometimes works

Check for a transmission speed sensor fault (OBDII scan). Loss of speed sensor signal will result in no torque converter lock up, and no overdrive. Also transmission filter should have been changed at 80,000 miles. Age of your vehicle(1994) warrants the filter service. Transfer case (4WD) needs to be serviced as well.

one unit that operates ratio changes and is connected to the engine is that vacuum operated actuator on the transmission
it is possible that that unit is failing , vacuum hose is leaking and that will cause ratio changes as the vacuum varies
run the fault codes to check for wiring problems or VSS or TCM problems as well
