I would think you could disconnect the sensor wire connector and use small piece of wire and jump across the 2 terminals.

2002 elantra p0128 code. Cleared with a scanner but keeps coming back on. Coolant level seems ok. Fans turn on/off automatically. Coolant temp gage sometimes stays below C when driving on freeway at night,...

I would start with the cheapest fix first. Change the air filter and then replace the coolant temp sensor. Then perform another ODBII scan. Let the scan be your guide to any repairs to avoid buying parts you don't need.

Check gage light goes on intermitantly along with the temperature going to hot. At the same time the engine sounds like I turned the ac on. I also notice a loss of power. Any ideas???

The "check gage" when ever the engine coolant is high or the engine oil pressure is low. First step of diagnosis, check the coolant level and your oil level immediately and then go from there. Hopefully, this will help you to FixYa problem!

Check gage light comes on, then steering locks, then dies...any ideas? I then let it sit for a few min and restart it...then it runs. Just started today, happened twice...

When the CHECK GAGE turn on illuminates when the engine coolant temperature is high, the engine oilpressure is low or the fuel gauge is at or near empty.

Check your Service Manual for this and other details.

Hope help with this (remember rated this help).

What is the check gauges light

CHECK GAGES light (1) indicates a potential engine failure(low oil pressure, low coolant, coolant overheating) has occurred.
· Check gages and shut down engine. Gages should read as follows: Oil pressure 5 to 10 psi (34 to 69 kPa) at idle; Water Temp gage below 230 degrees (110 C).
· Check engine oil level (Para 2-11) if OIL PRESS gage indicates low reading. Check coolant level (Para 2-11) if Water Temp gage indicates high reading. Notify Unit Maintenance if levels are low.

If CHECK ENGINE light (2) is on, check engine oil pressure gage (3) and water temperature gage (4). If both indicate normal, proceed with mission and then notify Unit Maintenance. If either one does not indicate normal, stop engine immediately and notify Unit Maintenance

Suburban 2001 temperature gage fluxuating from high to low

Is it just the gauge or is the engine coolant temperature varying? Does the heater seem to vary in temperature when it is on.
It could be a couple of different things.
One could be a malfunctioning temp sending unit, it has lost its calibration.
Two, your thermostat is cycling open and closed from a weak return spring, worn out.
Make sure coolant level is correct and the mixture is 50/50.
Let me know.

Low Coolant light stays on

Check you coolant resevoir. The low coolant switch is located in the resevoir so if it is low on coolant there, the light will come on. If it is full, it could be that the switch is stuck due to gunk build up in the resevoir. Hope this helps you out
