Check engine lt. came on...all fluid levels ok 2004 toyota tacoma v6 auto 4wd...61000 miles seems fine driving truck owned it since new not sure if the check engine lt is something i should be concerned...

The information below was complied by me, it explains what causes the check engine light to come on and the process of finding the cause.

When the Check Engine light (or Service Engine Soon) is turned on, the systems computer control unit (called the PCM) has sensed a fault in the electronic controls of the engine and/or the emission system. When this happens you will seldom feel the car engine run any different. There are about 200 possible system faults (the gas cap is just one of them) that turn the Check Engine light on, to know what has developed a problem you must have the system tested, this is called an OBD2 fault code test, Kragen/Oriley and Autozone parts stores (USA only) do this testing for free.

Low Fluid levels do not turn on the CEL

When I start my car the "check engine light" stays on. Its running fine and all the fluid levels are fine.

Some fault code is stored in the PCM (computer), generally could be some emissions code, but to know excalty what faulto code is, you need scanned the PCM. Some Autozone or Autoshop with scanner reader sometimes make this job for free.

Hope helps

I just bought a 2006 dodge grand caravan with 66,000 miles on it and the check-engine light came on!!! It seems to still drive fine but I am not sure what this is caused from!!!

Take it to Advance Auto Parts, or Auto Zone, they will scan your computer for free to get the code and tell you what it means. May just be a sensor, or the gas cap isn't tight (emissions) may or may not be serious. Thanks.

Check engine light is on.

Hi, And yes it is. When the check engine light comes on, normally it indicates a problem in the emissions system of you're auto. Its a good idea to check fluid level to make sure they are where they are supposed to be if it does come on. What you can do though is drop by your local Auto-Zone parts store and for no charge they will hook up there OBD-2 meter to you're computer which is located just left of your steering wheel, below your dash. They just plug it in. It will read out a code that tells you what is going on. They can then erase it and it may never come on again. This is you're best bet. My light is on now due to an emissions problem, and will go off by itself for months before coming on again. I can't find anything wrong with it. Try this and keep me posted.
Sincerely,

2002 Buick Century, when the tank is 1/4 full,

P0446 Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit Malfunction

The evaporative emission control system checks to make sure there are no leaks in the lines that run from the gas tank to the charcoal canister and up to the engine. It also checks to make sure the gas cap is sealing correctly.
It may just be that the cap was not on tight and the code was tripped.

A dusty environment can also clog the vent line and cause this code.
Have the code cleared and see if it comes back. Some auto parts stores like Auto Zone can read and clear the codes for you.
Hope this helps.

Chech engine light

Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Low Input indicates a low voltage problem in the Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor (FTPS). What the fuel FTP sensor does is convert fuel tank absolute pressure into electrical signals and inputs the signal to the ECM/PCM, (Computer). First thing to do is make sure the gas cap is good and tightened properly. Then check the vacuum lines and wiring at the FTPS (Location-Fuel Tank) to be sure they are good, clean and tight.

it is because your radiator is already filthy, drain the water on it and clean it with pressurized water...
