Hi!

Use a long braker bar with a socket in the crankshaft pulley and turn it in the direccion of rotation of the motor. If it turns free a couple of times, install a new pump, make sure coolant deposit is full, disconnect distributior plug, add oil and crank it up, if no strange noises heard, plug back dist. and start it up.

If funny o strange noises are heard, you are going to need an overhaul.

I wish you Good Luck!!

If the oil pump goes out will it lock up the motor until changed

It will not lick up anything usually, but you must not drive an engine without oil pressure! You will destroy the whole thing.

No oil pressure, ticking motor

Possibly a failed oil pump. Check engine oil level first.Make sure it is at least to the safe zone on your engine dipstick. if the motor has not had regular oil changes ( i change mine every 3000 miles like clock work) the oil can sludge and clog oil passages and pickup screen to oil pump.

1500cc engine

DO you have oil pressure when car is running. Do you have proper level of oil on dip stick. If oil pump is not working , it will need to be replaced before starting your vehicle again. If you have no oil circulating in the engine it will lock up and destroy internal engine components.

HOW TO REMOVE AND REPLACE THE OIL PUMP

Please turn the caps lock off when posting, thanks

You're going to have to lift unbolt the engine mounts and lift the motor some so the oil pan will clear the cross member because you will have to remove it to get to the oil pump. The oil pump is at the rear of the motor and has one bolt in the center that holds if. There is also a shaft between the pump and distributor. The cam drives the distributor and that shaft drives the pump.

But before there is a big how to for no reason, why do you feel you need to replace the pump? Oil pressure on the gauge low, fluctuates, shows zero? You may just need to replace the oil pressure sender switch. Cheaper and way easier.

2004 Dodge Intrepid oil light stays on - will not go off.

have you checked the oil level in the engine on the dipstick? if so and the oil levels full, you may have a bad oil pump! do not drive or run engine until you have a mechanic to looh at it to determine it as a a bad oil pump. running the motor with a bad oil pump will damage your motor or even lock the motor up!hope this helps you and thank you for choosing fixya.com

Had the oil changed at walmart they put a fram filter on it and the filter caved now the motor appears to be locked up if the oil pump went out would it appear that the motor was locked up my husband...

Yes it is bearings, rings, and part of the cylinder. If the oil pump went out the motor would lock up. The oil pump pumps oil throughout the motor. If the pump quits, it is just like running the engine without any oil at all. Without oil pressure then the motor would lock up because nothing in the engine would get any lubrication. Don't think it has anything to do with the oil and filter. Probably just a faulty oil pump. I have heard of Walmart not putting oil back in cars, and causing them to lock up. But if you had oil in the car, and it has metal shavings, then it is more than likely the oil pump just quit.

HOW DO YOU REMOVE A POWER STEERING MOTOR AND REPLACE IT WITH A NEW ONE FOR A 2006 MALIBU?

its a pump not a motor, you need to remove the drive belt from the pump, unbolt the pump from its mounting position, drain the oil out, remove the hydraulic oil line from the pump and remove the oil line.
bolt new pump on, connect oil line and drive belt, tension the drive belt, fill with oil to the right level, turn steering lock to lock with engine running to remove all air from the system and recheck oil level
