Question about 2001 Nissan Sentra
Every time there is an emisions problem your check engine light comes on and stores a code in the memory in which, using a OBDII scanner, it can be retreived later and proper repair should be made. If the code that is coming up means that your catalytic converter is inefficient, it means that from now on, it won't perform it's job properly. In other words, you will be polluting the environment more than the any other car with a good cat. If your vehicle is working fine now is because your oxygen sensor is still working but if repairs are not made, it will eventualy go out, your car will stop, you will need a tow truck to take vehicle to a shop, etc.
So my recomendation is, fix the cat and save some money. : )
