Question about 1997 Volkswagen Golf
I have a 1998 VW Golf and the clip holding the wind shield broke on one side so the sunroof would not close all the way. So I removed the shield and it closed no problem. Now I bought the replacement plastic clips and ready to replace them and the sunroof will now not open. It does tilt up no problem. When you go to slide it back the roof goes down but does not move back at all. How do you get it to open again so I can replace the clips to reinstall the shield?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Sounds like the sunroof motor is out of time. Needs to be re-timed. There is a retime procedure, (that I would try first) but I don't remember the whole procedure. if you still have the problem, let me know and i will get the whole thing , from the service manual.
