Question about 1996 Plymouth Grand Voyager

Van wont start, loud, has a burning smell and the oil light is on

Had an oil change 4/23/10 on my 96 plymouth grand voyager 3.3 engine then drove 12 hrs to kansas and now the van is making a loud noise under the hood when its started and while driving, there also was a smell of something burning. I stopped to check under the hood and the oil stick says to add a quart so, I did and its still making the noise but not as loud. Drove 5 more hours and stopped to fill up and turned the van off and now my oil light is on and it wont start. I tried to start it several times and it wouldn't turn over but it sounded like it was trying to catch, so I waited 20 mins and it started but now it wont drive over 10 mph and is screaming and keeps cutting off. Any ideas or did firestone do something to my van?

Thanks

I'd feel best if you can find a reputable mec and have it looked at. There are a mess of things that can make loud noise. You could have anything from a bad berring to a blown engine. When your'e on the road remember go to someone who is reccomended or a national chain or dealer..

Engine Knocking / No Power

Dosent sound good. Oil light on means you lost oil pressure. and the knocking sound is the damage done due to low pressure. Start looking for another engine or another van.

MY VAN RAN OUT OF OIL WHEN I WAS DRIVING THE OIL LIGHT NEVER CAME ON.. NOW IT'S MAKING A LOUD TAPPING NOISE SOMEONE TOLD ME IT'S MY TAPPET'S I NEED TO FIX MY VAN IM A SINGEL MOM WITH 2 BOYS

Did you try topping it off with oil and seeing if the noise goes away? If so, it sounds like you may have some internal engine damage, and without taking it apart, it is difficult to say exactly what is wrong without listening to it myself. I would say it's probably time for an engine rebuild if the oil doesn't clear this tapping sound up.

I have a 1993 plymouth grand voyger 3.3 engine automatic transmission wont shift out of second to drive and over drive

i have had this problem before. driving around 45mph still in second gear. when u let off of gas van lurches as if you were downshifting to stop. however, van is automatic. doesn't make sense. van is low on oil and causes gears to stick. like some insane nightmare. give it a quart of oil and you will find the van easily changing gears and acting normal again. don't ask me why or how, but i speak from experience

98 PLYMOUTH GRAND VOYAGER WONT START - BLOWS ENG FUSE - HELP

You have a shorted engine harness, this is not common but it does happen, heat and engine movement cause damage to the harness, this is most common on hi miler cars and vans, the only way to fix it is to start by looking anywhere the harness rubs, that is where the damage occurs.
