Question about 2006 Ford Five Hundred

1 Answer

My 2006 Ford 500 SEL AWD stutters and shakes when coming to a stop and hesitates when accelerating. Cannot "gun it" at all. Takes forever to get to 30mph. Auto shop said a motor mount is broken... would that cause these symptoms?

No way motor mount will cause this. Why would a motor mount be bad on a car this new. has it been in a collision? I would first suspect a bad injector. That would cause the engine to lose power and struggle to idle which is what it is trying to do as you stop. the way to check injectors is to listen to them. They make a metallic clicking sound when working properly. Listening devices sold to do this are just a piece of metal attached to earpieces. you can do the same with a thin piece of wood and put your ear against it. if one is silent it needs replaced., Might still be under warranty check with dealer

Have them check the control arms. Had the same issue, replaced said item and no issue since.

2006 ford taurus sel bogs down under acceleration, have replaced fuel filter and fuel pressure sensor

Locate the mass air flow sensor. It will be located on top of the hose coming from your air filter. Walmart sells the cleaner. You could go to Autozone (if check engine light is on) to see if the code is indicating such. Watch this video carefully and follow the instructions. This fixed my daughter's Corolla and should be cleaned periodically.

1990 Corolla started shaking after I accelerated rapidly (gunned the engine)

White smoke coming out of exhaust is water vapor. Blue is oil burning and black is carbon from unburned fuel.
U have water or coolant leaking into your combustion cylinders - not a good thing. Probably blown head gasket.

Check your oil - if it like a brown mud then the coolant has also gotten into the lubrication system.

2006 Hyundai Elantra with 2.0 automatic with 111000 miles. Car is hesitating and begins shaking going up steep hills. Problem seems the worst at around 3000 rpm going up hill. The car wont stop shaking...

There's many reasons this can happen, but start simple. Fuel pump may be failing. Usually under load they can not supply the fuel the engine is demanding. (Up hill acceleration is a classic example). change the fuel filter first, if that doesn't not correct the problem, test fuel system pressure. (:

2007 ford 500 shaking on acceleration

I would have the computer scanned for codes first.
You would need to figure out if the problem is fuel or ignition related to proceed.
A long list of possible causes includes low fuel pressure, fuel filter, spark plugs, blocked air filter, and so on.

Car stutters/ hesitates

Well I am not a mechanic, but I am fairly handy with a wrench. My initial suspect would be some sort of transmission issue whether it be mechanical or sensor related. Is it more noticeable when accelerating slowly vs. a quick acceleration? That could mean a torque converter. When is the last time that you had the transmission fluid changed? A good shop should be able to rule out many issues by looking at the fluid that comes out (looking for metal shavings and the like). Taking your car to a transmission specialist may be your next viable option. Hope this helps

My 2006 Dodge Magnum hesitates sometimes while in

I had the same problem. I replaced the crank shaft position sensor and it solved my problem. It would stall at intersections and while under light acceleration. It also caused loss of cruise control and a stutter when at highway speeds. Replaced crank sensor and its been running solid for 5,000 miles. $125 fix self installed.
