Question about 2004 Dodge Neon

1 Answer

I have a 2004 Neon that begins to buck and hesitate at high rpm's

I have a 2004 Neon that begins to buck and hesitate at high rpm on the thruway. It runs fine on the back roads @ speeds under 55 or 60. I can make the engine do the same just by reving it up to a certain rpm while it is in park. There were three trouble codes; one indicated the gas cap which I didn't replace yet (just tried the three clicks as explained by autozone), another indicated a very small vacuum leak, and the third showed the cam shaft positioning sensor was bad. I replaced the sensor which turned off the check light, but the problem still exists. I checked the air filter compartment for obstructions too but it's clean. I read about the Cam sensor before digging in, and I saw the explanation about removing the magnet, but I couldn't see a reason to do so. Did I miss something in the process? I have a fuel filter/regulator I could try since I believe the problem now w/o the check light on must be something the electrical system can't detect like a filter. The car has 130k miles, so it could be anything by now...filters, fuel pump, clogged catalytic converter, etc. Any ideas?

Try pushing in on plugs on PCM, below and inboard from the driver's side headlight. The cam sensor goes to the bottom plug.

My 2004 mazda b 2300 (105,000 miles) "bucks" when i shift up (usually at about 2000 rpm or less)

The engine may misfire and/or buck while driving at freeway speeds with no fault code stored in the powertrain control module (PCM). This can be caused by an intermittent fault with the camshaft synchronizer assembly. This condition can be diagnosed by monitoring knock sensor data as per Ford service bulletin #05-22-12. Replacement of the synchronizer assembly will be required to correct this concern.

I hope this helps

Engine revs high in park & neutral

you could have a vacum leak some where in the system that can cause high rpm, also if you have a bad tps(throttle position sensor) it can cause this type of don`t say if you have check to see what is turning on the check engine light and what code is in the computer.this should have been done and may have help to find the problem in the begining.

My 95 Sunfire keeps blowing the fuse for the turn signals as soon as i start the car. And the car also hesitates when i accelerate the but stops whem i reach very high rpm's. It is a standard. Ive replaced...

Sounds like a dead short on a low amp cicuit. If it doesn't buck when you don't use the turn signals. Then it is a short. this could interfere with the electric gas pump. If the two problems are unrelated, confirm firing order of the spark plugs and check s/p leads.

2004 dodge neon has high rpms and no speed

ok i just replaced mine to but you have to make sure that you replace the throwout bearing(correctly)
if this does not happen it is like the clutch is engaged partially all the time and another thing is that make sure no oil is in the clutch pack. i replaced my main engine seal while i had it apart because it was tossing oil into the clutch area.

Good Luck

Shutters and bucks

Inside trhe transaxle is a convertor lock up solenoid. When these go out, the transaxle acts as you describe. I would have this checked and / or replaced. Hope this helps and rate me high.
