Ive been told be a few people the tourqe converter?

  • cody314 Apr 24, 2010

By hanging up what exactly do you mean?

and your also saying i can access the tourqe converter be removing the pan?

  • cody314 Apr 24, 2010

    i dont think so actually.

Because when im sitting and the car is in those gears it still makes the noise

  • cody314 Apr 24, 2010

Also the noise is coming from the front of the car

  • cody314 Apr 24, 2010

It is coming from the front of the car.

  • cody314 Apr 24, 2010

yes it does not do it in park or neutral

and it does it when im also holding the brake and the noise increases when i give it gas

  • cody314 Apr 24, 2010

and ues i still get the noise when im just sitting

  • cody314 Apr 24, 2010

okay so when you say check the debris what exactly do you mean?

and you wouldent happen to have like aim or yahoo messenger would you?

  • cody314 Apr 24, 2010

okay will you be around the computer for a while?

    also what is your skype?

  • cody314 Apr 24, 2010

Oksy well ill let u kno here shortly

  • cody314 Apr 24, 2010

it was clean as can be.

you can tell the transmission was rebuilt recently.

So im still aiming for the torque conveter being bad since i can get right under it and hear the noise in there?

    What do you think?

and should i go ahead and order one?

  • cody314 Apr 24, 2010

I think ill go ahead and order a new 1 incase the 1 is bad butvill check the bolts be4 i replace it with a new 1 and if thst fixs it ill just return the new 1?

  • cody314 Apr 24, 2010

    okay thank you.

  • cody314 Apr 26, 2010

Well just left a shop and he said its either the torque converter or the stator bearrings?

I ordered the converter it should be here on the 28th.

Do you think we should replace the stattor bearrings as well?

  • cody314 Apr 26, 2010

For some reason i cnt find anywhere to buy stator's or stator bearrings? do they sell them or what lol

So so get the noise in every gear except neutral
does it only happen while moving or can you brake torque it to make the noise?

there are actual a few TSB's (Technical Service Bulletins) on this vehicle with trans noises... here is the first of many by GM, 03-07-30-017

while I understand that the noise you hear appears to come from the front, noises can be illusive
however, since you can only hear it with the transmission in gear this is a good indication of a trans problem

first thing first....drop the trans pan and inspect for debris

    Sean Reisdorf Apr 24, 2010

no... sorry I don't have either
    I do have Skype

however, checking for debris is easy!
once you remove the pan, you will find a little round magnet about the size of a silver dollar but a lot thicker

when you have the pan removed, check the magnet
you fill find what looks like dirt attached, this is small pieces of metal from the trans discs

however if you find anything hard, or more debris than a tablespoon, then you have transmission issues

    keep me posted

    so....what did you find?

  • Sean Reisdorf
    Sean Reisdorf Apr 24, 2010

probably replaced the converter with a rebuild and you are hearing the stator slipping inside

however, just check to make sure none of the bolts are loose on the converter to the flywheel before you get too far along

so...since I had advised you of the converter and/or stator, could you do me a favor and update my thumb rating and/or let me know what I could have done better

    thanks again

The whining noise you hear can be fixed by flushing and refilling the rear differential and/or checking and replacing the wheel bearing. If the noise is coming from one of your wheels then listen closely to what side (front or back) is making the noise and have a mechanic inspect the bearing.

The torque converter clutch solenoid is probably hanging up. It is
located inside the transmission on the valve body. It can be easily
accessed by removing the transmission pan.

2002 dodge durango whinning noise will your

Thank you for getting back to me. I would like you to check your transmission fluid. start the engine and let it warm up at idle speed for about 15 min and check the fluid. It sounds like you do not have enough in it, there for the whining noise with increase of speed since your transmission is speeding up with the rate of your vehicle. If this does not help and the problem persist please let me know. If the noise you were hearing was coming from the u joints of the vehicle it would not make a whining noise with increase of speed. The u joints will only make a noise when they are going bad when the vehicle is shifted into any gear from the shifter( EX: park to drive, park to reverse ECT.)

My 2000 Buick LeSabre whines and will not shift into any forward gears. It also has a very loud whining noise. Car starts fine and I am able to put the car in to reverse. Once I put the car in Drive it...

it does sound like the transmission has packed it in. you might be able to find a decent used one via a wrecking yard and get a local mechanic to install it.
try to find one out of a car with under 100K miles on it.

2002 Buick Rondevoux 3.4 V6. Makes a noise from the engine like a buzzing sound. Sounds seems to come from power steering pump. I had it changed twice and still have the sound. Car is quit for twenty...

if the noise is different in park, rev or drive , its in the trans. if no difference, take the belt off and see if its still there, its just a process of elimination. the fuel pressure regulator should have a vacuum hose on it, see if it changes when the hose is removed (higher pressure)

2002 buick rendezvous groans when turning

The fluid in the versa trak AWD in the rear is old and needs to be drained and refilled. After you drain and refill it, make a bunch of sharp left and right hand turns, then drive it for 10 minutes. Drain and refill it for the second time and problem solved. Use only versa trak fluid available at any GM dealership. There is TSB on this now at the Buick dealership.

Weird noises in drive and reverse

The high pitched whine in reverse sounds normal for a honda. Ever honda I have had makes a similar noise while in reverse. The spinning, scraping noise in drive is not normal. You might want to see a mechanic about that.
