On most of the new cars the head light assembly comes out pretty quick and easy. on top of the assebly there is typicaly two pins. there are eather steal or plastic. you have to pull these pin up and out of the back of the assebly. steal pins come all the way out, but plastic typical come only part of the way out. the assembly will then pull strait out, but can be a tight fit sometimes. unplug light bulbs and reverse procedure with new headlight assembly
be carefull not to touch the glass on the bulbs with you fingers. the oil from your skin will cause the bulbs to fail prematurely.

Cobalt 2005 ls headlight bulb replacement

Instructions Things You'll Need:
  • 9007 LL halogen headlight bulb
  • Wrench
  • Gloves or clean rag
  1. Step 1 Set the parking brake and remove the keys from the ignition to ensure your Chevy Cobalt won't roll while you're replacing the headlight bulb.
  2. Step 2 Open the hood by pulling the hood release latch located under the instrument panel on the driver's side of the car. Locate the secondary release latch on the front of the hood at the center, slightly towards the driver's side. Slide the latch to the left to release the hood and raise it.
  3. Step 3 Locate the headlight assembly and remove the bolts by turning them counterclockwise. Set the bolts aside in a safe place, so you won't misplace them.
  4. Step 4 Remove the plastic fasteners from the headlight assembly molding. Carefully pull back the front fascia, or molding. You may need an extra pair of hands to perform this slightly awkward task.
  5. Step 5 Grab the headlight assembly and pull it towards the radiator at a slight angle to remove it. This should provide easier access to the headlight bulb and wiring harness.
  6. Step 6 Lift the plastic locking tab on the wiring harness to disconnect the bulb base. Then, disconnect the wiring harness from the bulb socket and remove the black retainer by turning it counterclockwise.
  7. Step 7 Disconnect the bulb socket by turning it counterclockwise. Remove the old bulb from the socket by firmly, but gently pulling it straight out.
  8. Step 8 Replace the old bulb with a new 9007 LL halogen headlight bulb. Put your headlight assembly back together by reversing the steps when you disassembled it. Use 89 inch-lb torque when retightening the headlight assembly

2006 chevy cobalt headlights.

There are 2 nuts at top of headlight..Loosen those, also remove plastic push in tabs from grill...after that You will need to pry the headlamp out.It will take a few mins.!! Do not repalce the bulbs w/ those "Blue" bulbs they last all of 2 months,Because of the daytime running lights. It takes the life out of the bulb cause they run hotter!
