1985 Nissan 300ZX - Speedometer

Speedometer doesn't work - the odometer does. The dealer says that transmission seal is shot and fluid is leaking onto the cable and gear for the speedometer? $488 to fix. Does this sound right? Parts are $150 the rest is labor. Does this make sense to anyone?

Sounds like the problem is in the speedo head itself, in the dash. If fuild was leaking, I don't think the speedometer would work either? Sounds like the gear that turns the number wheels maybe bad or stripped.

Where do i put transmission fluid in a nissan navara 2.4

If it doesn't have a dipstick then it is a sealed transmission and you must see the dealer. &Unless it is leaking you need not check the fluid level, it doesn't evaporate.

Ac fan doesn't blow hard enough 1985 300zx

If very little air comes from the vents, the fan on the blower motor may be damaged, or there may be a restriction in the vents, or a blend door may not be open completely.

Speedometer on my 1985 300zx does not work... it is not digital.. i just need a place to start.. thanks

I would start by checking the end that goes into the transmission and see if the plastic gears are worn out. It is usually easier to remove this from the transmission and see if it works by turning it to see if you get any movement in the speedometer in the dash. It is much harder to pull the dash out to see if there is a problem with the connection there.

I have 1985 turbo and my digital dash works....all except my speedometer,,,,,what you thinks the problem

Look for the sender unit located near the tail of the transmission--check for loose, corroded wiring. If no help, replace the sender unit. Hope this helps!

Transmission fluid leak at speedometer

The problem is the speedometer drive at the transmission it has a worn seal that causes the cable to bring the oil out of the transmission and up the cable to the speedometer head. You have to replace the speedometer adapter (inner seal) at the transmission.

I have the same problem with my 300zx currently. You need to replace the gauge cluster. The speedo itself in the cluster is really expensive and hard to replace. Look for one on eBay. Make sure to get the correct year though!

Clutch fluid is leaking inside of the car 240sx

You need to rebuild the seals in the cluth master cylinder. The seal around the pedal shaft that actuates the clutch is leaking fluid past the seal and onto the shaft connected to the pedal, inside the cabin.
A good parts store should be able to get you a seal rebuild kit, or remove the cylinder and bring it to a clutch shop or Nissan dealer and have them rebuild it for you. This is cheaper than dropping the car off and having them do all of the work.
Dismantling the master cylinder, replacing the seals, filling the system with fresh fluid and bleeding it should solve your problem. Be sure to replace all of the seals at one time, and don't be tempted to only replace the one that is leaking at the moment. They should all be the same age to last without further leaking. Otherwise you'll be chasing a series of problems with your clutch as the other old seals fail over time.
Hope this helps.
