Question about 1996 Isuzu Trooper

1 Answer

Hello, about a couple of weeks ago my car went crazy I kept hearing this clicking sound from inside while I was driving. When it click the battery light, brake light and this light that's made like and I but it was slanted a little, came on. When those lights came on the battery guage would go all the way up and my truck would start slowing up. Then all of a sudden everything started cutting itself on and off. I pulled over to the side because I thought the car was possesed and I got out the truck. The car wouldn't start again. We changed the fuses in the fuse box up under the hood and then it started again. But now the those lights that was clicking still comes on, and it still slows up, my windshield wipers won't cut off, my radio won't come on and also my interior lights won't come on. Please help.

We've done that and they are all good and its still doing the same thing. We even took out the drive train, because we thought that the four wheel drive was trying to kick in, but that wasn't the case its still doing the same thing

First check and make sure your battery is good, your battery cables are snug on the post, you have a good ground and if needed clean your battery posts. Next check your alternator....if the alternator is going bad it will make your truck act "possessed". I hope this helps. Good luck!

Ok....so when you checked the battery did you check the ground? You want to make sure that it has a good clean connection to the chassis....no grease on it or around it and it is tight against the frame. Have you checked the lighting wiring harness? What warning light is clicking? Describe what it looks like....is it like a back slash? Have you tried to have your computer scanned?

HELLO: It could be a frozen gas line and or stopped up filter, filter is on drivers side under the truck, looks like over sized small coke can with a connection on both ends. Thats the first place I would check.

Starting problem

Hello LostLynne.
The most common issue is a bad contact in the starter solenoid.
This solenoid is part of the starter assembly and makes the high amperage battery to starter connection
When you hear the click the solenoid is activating but not completing the battery to starter contact.
If this is an original starter or been on for a long time I would suggest changing the starter assembly.
Also in your under hood fuse/relay panel there is a smaller relay that activates the starter solenoid that should be checked before replacing the starter. Although less common for that to happen it does occasionally cause a problem. Easy to replace too.
If you have further questions please ask me.

Car will not start, no clicking at all. about a

Start with the basics. Does the battery have a good charge, are the connections clean and tight? Perhaps the "crazy lights" (probably a computer glitch) created a current draw that ran down your battery. I hope this helps lead you to the difficulty.
