I am trying to find the location of the fuses for the brake lights on a 2006 Chevy Cobalt sedan

{: ) The stop lamp switch controls the on/off function of the stop lamps including the center high-mounted stop lamp( CHMSL). The stop lamp switch get its power from the Body Control Module (BCM). This power is also fused but is internal to the BCM. You need to check carefully the voltages at the stop lamp switch and its on/off function. If voltage is not present at the stoplamp switch, you can check the C4 connector(light gray in color) at the BCM if there is some loose connection. Otherwise the BCM may not be giving an output voltage and will need to be repaired/replaced. I hope the problem is not caused by the BCM.

No brake lights but every other light works

Do the turn signals work? If yes check fuses.
All fuses good? If yes, probably stop light switch.
Remove the wires from the stop light switch, jumper across the two wires with small piece of wire, stop lights come on? If yes the switch is to blame. Push wires on and of switch a few times to make sure they are making contact be fore changing switch.

Stop lights is on every time

If your stop lights are on all the time, your stop light switch, mounted on the steering coluum under the dash, is either defective or out of adjustment. Make sure the switch is depressing when foot is off the break pedal. If it is, then the break switch is defective. Good luck!
