One of two problems, your fuel level sending unit is defective, or your gauge Is bad.

check fuses, remove sender unit from tank, connect ohm meter to it and physically move arm up and down slowly and check for increase/decrease in resistance,if this is ok then supply power to the wiring to gauge and see if the needle rises,if no change in resistance sender is rooted,if no change in gauge when it is supplied power then the gauge is rooted, when diagnosing electrical probs always check fuses firstelectrical

SOURCE: PASS LOCK ON 1999 PONTIAC SUNFIRE

you need to get rid of passlock or spend a lot of money in the new cylinder and key that only a dealer would make. There is a detailed write-up for bypassing passlock here: http://newrockies.ca . The guy is great, and this was the only way I was able to save my Park Avenue.

SOURCE: 2003 pontiac sunfire gauges don t work.

the fuse pannel on the left side of the dash pull cover off and look at the diagram on the panel cover look for cluster its a 10 amp fuse. make sure your car is turned off pull out that fuse and replace it with a new one the old fuse will look like there is nothing wrong with it but it is faulty. then turn your car on and it should work just as it did before you pulled out your battery hope this solved your issue

Could be condensation in the gas, or the gas is simply old. Could be fuel deliver isn't happening. Could be fuel line clogged or fuel filter clogged.
I'd start by checking fuel pressure....

The gas gauge, speedometer, and temp gauge does not work, what shall i do to fix it.

Those gauges get power from a 10amp fuse marked CLSTR and a 10amp fuse marked BCM/CLU. The fuses should be in the fuse box inside the car.
Have you checked those fuses to see if they have power ?

My temp gauge is not working and since that, when the car is hot,it stops everywhere and it is hard to start, like it s flooded ( to much gas )is it the temp gauge the problem!

Hello francis.

If the temperature sensor is defective it will send a cold signal to the computer.
This cold signal will make the engine run rich (too much fuel).
Cold engines need more fuel to run so that is why it is rich when hot.
But...the computer has a separate sensor from the gauge sender.
Which engine is in your Pontiac? 2.2 or 2.4 ?
Let me know here and I will send you some location diagrams.

more than likely the float in the gas tank needs replaced, which the whole gas tank would need to be dropped to do this

I don't know what the symbol means on my 1999 Pontiac Sunfire

does it look like a radiator? Low coolant sensor, may be in the overflow tank. Check your coolant levels when cold.
