Question about Ford Focus

Open Question

I have a Ford Focus 2006. It has come up with cos PO700 - Transmission control System On the dash it said Transmission malfunction D Was advised to take it to an Auto Electrician who found these codes when checking; PO700 - Transmission Control System PO4060 - Fuel Level Sensor But he is unable to find what these codes relate to. The car has a hesitation sometimes when changing gears and then "snaps" into gear Autotransmission specialist said it is not mechanical. Can anyone help me please or will I have to take to Ford dealer?

SOURCE: transmission codes:

I WOULD TRY REPLACING THE INPUT SPEED SENSOR..A DEFECTIVE SPEED SENSOR CAN CAUSE ALL OF THESE FAULTS..IT IS LOCATED IN FRONT OF TRANS ABOVE SOLENOID PACK..IT IS THE ONE CLOSEST TO THE ENGINE..IT SCREWS INTO TO TRANSMISSION..A 1 INCH SOCKET FITS IT..ALSO CHECK WIRING TO BOTH SPEED SENSORS..A SENSOR IS ABOUT 35 BUCKS,AVAILABLE AT YOUR LOCAL DODGE DEALER..GET A NEW ONE AND YOU'LL SEE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE..FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM..HAVE REPLACED LOTS OF THEM

SOURCE: Jeep Grand Cherokee 2.7CRD (2004) auto won't change gear

check all the fuses before you do anything else. After all a fuse provides power to the electronic box that controls the transmission. Other than that I would not advice on a more complicated troubleshooting since there is no way for you to test a bad transmission computer, even mechanic shops don't know how to test them. The only thing they would do is slap a known good one and see what happens.

Why does a red light come up on the dash board saying a transmission malfunction on my focus 08

The light is on because something has malfunctioned in the transmission system, this can be a sensor or wiring or the transmission has a mechanical fault. The next step is to have a scanner hooked up and read the fault code that was set in the control modules memory when it turned on the warning light. This may require a trip to the local dealer.

Po701 n po700 are comming up on my car

code po700 refers to transmission control system/mil -malfunction==causes ==wiring---TCM
code po701 refers to transmission control system -range/performance problem===causes wiring --tcm
As both show the TCM as a common point of the fault I would replace it.

P0460 - Fuel Level Sensor A Circuit Description: The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the fuel level input (FLI) circuit for electrical failure. The test fails when the signal moves outside the minimum or maximum allowable calibrated parameters for a specified fuel fill percentage in the fuel tank. Possible Causes:
  • Empty fuel tank
  • Fuel pump (FP) module concern
  • Incorrectly installed fuel gauge
  • Damaged instrument cluster
  • CASE GND circuit open
  • FLI shorted to VPWR
  • Overfilled fuel tank
  • Damaged fuel gauge
  • FLI circuit open
  • FLI circuit shorted to CASE GND or PWR GND
  • CSE GND shorted to VPWR
  • Damaged PCM
Diagnostic Aids: Monitor the FLI and FLI V PIDs in key ON, engine running. A concern is present if the FLI PID is at 25% fill and the FLI V PID is less than 0.90 volt with a non-matching fuel gauge or the FLI PID is at 75% fill and the FLI V PID is greater than 2.45 volts with a non-matching fuel gauge. Application Key On Engine Off Key On Engine Running Continuous Memory Ranger GO to Pinpoint Test HX . All others Refer to the Workshop Manual Section 413-01, Instrument Cluster for fuel level indicator diagnosis.
Your best bet would be to take it to a Ford dealer ,
