You have remove the accessories belt the plastic covers the spark plugs the valves cover the timing belt the pulleys then the pump.after that all back again retiming the engine etc very difficult procedure for a user.only an experianced person with special tools can do that.

I need to know how to change a water pump in a 2003 ford focus s/w it has a 4 cyl 16 val ztech eng

To change the water pump you need to remove the serpentine belt, remove the pulley from the water pump, rotate the water pump within the housing and replace it. Reinstall, check for leaks.

Does anyone know when the water pump usally needs changing on ford focus 1.4 2003

Water pumps generally do not need routine replacement. A good sign is leakage og coolant. Any detrimental wear such as a bearing will cause leakage of the seal.If it is a precautionary thought, Change it around 75,ooo miles. FGood luck, Ned

How much is it going to cost to have a water pump replaced in my 2003 ford focus?

it depends on certain mechanic shops. of course the dealer is always way higher. estimated 1 1/2 to 2 hours to put on depending if you have to pull off the timing belt. cost will be estimated about 250.00. call around some mechanic shops and see. some will be different than others.

I replace water pump and i time it just by the manual but wont start on ford focus 2003 2.0L

The design of the ford focus is pretty bad. If you didnt do the timing perfect the pistons will hit the valves. This is called a zero clearence engine. You need to check compression in the cylinders and make sure they are in spec.

Water pump

About 8, if you are methodical you should be ok. You will probably have to remove the cam belt. If you do you need a tool to hold the cams-the tool is basically a flat plate +/- 400 mm long and about 6mm thick which slots into the rear of the cams when engine is in the correct position and on tdc.
