The pressure cap on the four-cylinder engine is on top of the thermostat housing, on the driver's side of the intake manifold, rather than on the radiator. Locating the thermostat is easy, just look under the pressure cap. How to Change Thermostat in 1999 Dodge Stratus 4 Cylinder
If you trace your upper radiator hose to the engine, you will find where the hose connects to your engine with a clamp. Remove this clamp and take this end of the hose and move out of the way. If you look at where the hose went, inside the large hole, you may actually see the thermostat. What you are looking at is the thermostat housing. Remove the thermostat housing and then the thermostat will come out. It may be stuck in place, and you might have to pry it out. I will give you a few pictures to show you what your looking for.
It is located on thetop front of the engine. Look for a radiator hose running to the engine block. You will see a housing which the hose connects to. It will look similar to this. Remove the 3 bolts and lift the housing and you will find the thermostat.
Follow the hoses from the top of the rad. out to the engine block, where the hose hooks to the engine is where the t-stat is located. look for sensors and a seam for a gasket.
If you have a V8 the thermostat is located under the coolant inlet tube. The tube is located on top of the engine, in the front about center. The thermostat is hard to change.Locate the upper radiator hose on your radiator and follow it to the engine block it is located on the top front part of your engine and you must lean over the front and look down onto the block to see the thermostat housing.
looked it up online and looks like it's on the front of the water pump in a thing called the coolant inlet housing. one end of it looks something like the letter y and the other end, where the thermostat is round. hope that helps
