top hose should be hot, all water from engine goes through upper hose, then radiator to cool and out lower hose.

1997 sunfire it is not getting gas and stalling out when i drive less then 6 km.changed gas filter and new lines stil not working.help!

Here are a few things to try,
1. Injector cleaner...put two bottles in a full tank and drive it for about 50 miles on the highway. This will also eliminate possible water contamination
2.check your air filter
3.clean your throttle body intake with intake cleaner
4.Have your mechanic do a "pressure test" on your fuel sustem...this will tell you whether or not you have a fuel pump issue.

My 1997 pontiac sunfire is overheating. There is

there is a steel pipe that runs across the motor there, they are prone to corroding and leaking, you might get away with cutting it and bridging with a piece of hose but the best bet is to replace it. We have been lucky a couple of times and found a car in the wreckers that had newish ones fitted.

1997 sunfire stalls when it gets hot let cool down starts

Your engine is getting too hit. Check coolant levels, make sure your coolant fan is working properly, as well as your temp gauge. If you feel these are working properly then you will want to move on to the thermostat and water pump. You should change the water pump at 60,000 miles anyway because if it ever goes while you are driving down the street then it may ruin the motor. Good luck.

First listen for the fuel pump. when you turn the ignition to "on" , just before start, you should hear the fuel pump whining. What you need to do is remove the fuel line going into your fuel rail. Get a small container and turn the pump on and off a few times to get some of that bad gas out. Reconnect fuel line and see if that works. If that doesnt work, Next would be to change the fuel filter which is just behind the rear axle. Other than that you could drain all of the fuel by disconnecting the fuel line to the filter and let it all drain. I dont see a lot of water getting into your port just by leaving the cap off. You might have bought bad gas.
