Check your auto transmission levels. Slow, often jerky, gear shifting is often accompanied by a bit of a jolt when putting it into drive from park or neutral. When fluids are low the torque converter impeller has to work harder to get pressure up and therefore it is slower at shifting to the next gear . Low transmission fluids also lead to poor fuel consumption.

92 dodge ram 150 not shifting


Two things happen on the Dodge's. 1. the rear O2 sensor shorts out and meses things up. 2. the Inner seal on the Direct drum (3rd) shrinks and causes a delayed up shift.

Tranny stuck in 3rd gear


If it's a manual and it's stuck in 3rd gear, it could be the clutch master or slave cylinder does not have enough hydraulic fluid to release the clutch.

If it's an automatic, then there is an internal problem to the transmission. Possibly the shift solenoid is plugged up or damaged or defective.

If it's an automatic and you can't shift out of the 3rd gear, at the shifter, then there is a problem with the transmission linkage, maybe.

try driving and shifting each gear manually, by hand until u reach "D". Also try some "trans X" sold at autozone& Advanced auto parts. try to run RPMs as high as possible before shifting.

My 2000 daewoo nebria jerks to the left when the automatic transmission changes into 3rd gear. it's kinka spooky. where do i need to start looking for the solution? Don Frasier come711@yahoo.com


I would start with your trans, 3rd gear is much higher the 1 and 2 and if it only jerks in 3 the problem is a tranny issue, possibly late shifting or bad shift solenoid for 3rd gear. Your ecu could also be casueing the late shifts.....hows your fluid level/age

1995 VW Jetta Automatic transmission shifts fine upon initial take-off from stand-still. Once tranny has shifted up into 4th, and then back down into 3rd, (as it should normally) it will not shift back...


I would suspect you are correct and it is an electrical problem with the electronics in the transmission. I would recommend you have this looked into by a professional. Ignoring it my end up causing more expensive problems.

did you change your clutch when you changed your gearbox??? also check the clutch master cylinder.
