My S40 2005 has 4 rear parking lights (two in each side). My left side was out. I took all 4 bulbs and they are perfectly ok. I can make 2 bulb at a time (same side or one in each side) to work but not...

somtimes bulbs will flash(burn up the gases inside) u may see some blackaning on the inside of the bulb ,somtimes not but the filement will still be intact. replace the bulbs and see what happens.

Volvo S40 Low beam headlight

Sounds like a wire to me. It's definitely not fuses (unless the fuses have been split for left and right hand side which I have never come across, but we are talking about volvo lol) so I'd say most likely there'd be a break somewhere in the harness. The driver's side probably blew as all the power gets sent to one side when one bulb isn't working - so it's working twice as hard usually - making it more susceptable to blowing.
