Question about Daewoo Lanos

1 Answer

I have a 1999 Daewoo Matiz, the problem is related with the A/C, it only happens around noon time (between 11 am and 3 pm) when in traficc, it starts having trouble maintaining idle run with the A/C on, the compressor tries to start but it can't, you can feel it trying ro start, if I press the accelerator pedal so the engine gains some RPMs then the compressor is able to start normally and cools normally, if I release the pedal the symtoms are back, also during in line in traffic, everytime a hit the brakes the comopressor will stop, then try to start, if I start running at first the compressor will stop then if I'm buiding speed the compressor will start normally. Thanks for your response, so I won't see any improvement right away? just a few days later, and just to be clear, I will just remove the big plastic hose coming from the air filter enclosure and spray into the opening to the engine?

    regards

Very helpful, I will need some other clarifications as to how to proceed.

This problem is caused by a sludged up automatic idle speed control valve, you need to clean it and the throttle valve, it is very easy, it helps to have a friend to do the service procedure, it is oulined below, it fixes 95% of all slow idle and. slow to respond to AC compressor load issues like this.
Get a can of intake cleaner (ABOUT $5.00) from any local auto parts store like NAPA or Carquest, do not use carburetor spray, intake cleaner only or u will damage the Teflon coating inside the throttle valve and air bypass valve, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

have u done the timing belt on this yet? a loose worn belt can also cause engine roughness, if the belt fails u will need major engine work, it must be changed every 60,000 miles. This job is for a professional and not recommended for most home mech's

Why is there a humming noise, relative to road speed, starting at 35-40 mph

Check your cars Wheel bearing. Jack up the wheels and hold tire in 6 & 12 o'clock positions(up and down) and shake the tire by pulling towards you with one hand and pushing away with other hand, if you find play then you need wheel bearing on that axle side.

There's a humming noise, relative to road speed. Starts at 35-40 mph. I wondered if this is a familiar problem to old Matizs and hoped you might help me locate it.

There are may things it could be. But the most common ones are:
- Broken belt in your tire.
- Bad wheel bearing
- loose brakes
- bad tie rods or ball joints

Daewoo matiz car not sparking how to bypass immobiliser

If the immobilizer is indeed your problem, there is now way to "bypass" this sytem. The immobilizer system has to read a frequency produced in your key to allow the veh to start. It is a theft deterent. If it could simply be "bypassed", the system would be useless as anyone could start the veh. Ususally, immobilizers kill the fuel supply, not the ignition spark. If you have no spark, you may hve another problem all together.

Does it have points? If so, they may have closed on you. Also check the rotor. If the tab isn't contacting the distributor button, you'll not get spark either..
