The distributor only goes in one way, there is no room for any type of adjustment, either there is a problem with the new part or some other issue is present, has the electronic engine control been tested for fault codes? here is how u do that, go to provided link.

Hi! YOu may need to set timing to correct this. The timing might have been changed during the removal of the opti spark. Since its new I believe that adjusting it will do the trick to get this done. Hope this helps and have a good one!

Have you tried checking on the spark plug wires? It may have cracks. Current usually jumps out of faulty/cracked plug wires resulting to bad engine performance. You may want to check on this.

Alrighty, cant set timing on opti spark since it is positioned on the same place even on removal. The opti timing can only be used on modified engines. I suspect that theres a misplaced plug wires. Try interchanging the plug wires cause one may be sitting on the wrong place.

1994 vette runs great for 30 min then keep cutting offdid complete tune up and replace fuel pump and assembly

Sounds like the Opti-Spark distributor on front of engine is defective that is the most common issue. Sold my Vette and have a spare new one for sale, want to buy it.

Wont start when hot

If you recently had a waterpump replaced or leaking, i would say its the opti spark distributor. Main problem with the LT1 engines the water leaks all over distributor that sits behind pump causing the start no start up. When ever you change the waterpump always include the opti spark and wired connector.

My 1993 Vette is driving me crazy!! It seems to always start 1st thing in the morning. Then I can drive it all day sometimes without any problems (doesn`t happen very often anymore) and some times I will...

Electrical issues are the most difficult to fix. If you can't duplicate the problem in the shop, you're usually out of luck. It could be a weak relay for things like the fuel pump, a weak electrical connection somewhere, problems with the circuit board inside the engine computer, and so on. It would help if you could narrow down the area of interest like fuel or spark. Carry a can of starting fluid and a spark plug tester and be ready to check things when it quits running or won't start. And check the computer for trouble codes even if the check engine light doesn't come on.

LT1 93 has little faults to accererate hard from low rpm, like "doubts". Keeping on high rpm acceleration is ok. Only 6k miles.

Very hard to say what is wrong, do you have any kind of car history like if the waterpump was leaking or replaced? If so like my 1994 vette the pump is in the front of opti-spark 99.9 percent of the time the water will ruin the opti. I have replacement mine many times, mainly because of the waterpump. if you replace pump you Must change opti-spark, its right there in open after you take out pump.it will save you 4 hours labor time.

What type engine? I assume if it is opti-spark it is a v8. L type .Check the routing of wires. GM vehicles are very susceptible to cross fire . Opti-spark distributors are notorious for failure as timing is achieved by a laser eye reading slots of a rotating disk and sending that data to the pcm. It was GM biggest failure. Check the installation especially the cap. Voltage will fluctuate anytime and engine's timing or firing if not on point.

I am replacing the the spark plugs and wires on my 92 corvette lt1 engine, but to change the wires seems impossible because they are under pulleys. any suggestions on how i should do it??? should i remove...

You don't have to pull the fenders off. The passenger side is fairly easy. On the Drivers side it is more of a challenge. First, remove the serpentine belt. Then remove the belt tensioner which is held on with one bolt. From here you can get to the wires on the drivers side of the opti spark. On the plug end you may need to remove a couple of bolts or the ASR mounts but if you work at it, you can fish them through. Don't do them one at a time under the Alternator. Put them in the clip and run them to the Opti-Spark. It is not fun but with patience you can get the plug end take care of without busting too many knuckles.
