A good thing to do would be to change your fuel filter. It might be clogged, and the fuel pump is not able to deliver gas. The filter is mounted inside the frame rail, drivers side, approx between the two wheels. Hope this helps!

There is a high pitched sound coming from under my 2002 Jimmy. It seems to be originating in the vicinity of the fuel tank, catalytic converter, differential area. But I cannot isolate it. Possibles?

Fuel pump in the tank makes a high pitch sound which is normal. Turn your key in the ignition, but don't start, you should hear the high pitch sound with the pump priming the system. You will still hear it when started, it's annoying but normal. Different brands are quieter than other, I just replaced mine with a Delphi brand fuel pump which is a tad quieter than AC Delco stock pump.

Car quit while driving turns over but will not start

listen for the fuel pump to kick on as soon as you turn the key it will make a high pitch noise then shuts off after it pressurizes the injectors. Another way spray starting fluid in the throttle body if it starts then dies out the fuel pump is bad.

Fuel system on infiniti 1999

Turn key forward and listen for the fuel pump to kick on. It will make a high pitched sound then shut off. If no sound the more than likely you need a fuel pump. You can check at the fuel rail with a guage pressure should be 30psi.
