Civic is an interference engine which it will bent cylinder head valve's, if timing belt is bad damage has been done, to check for bad timing belt remove oil fill cap see if you can see camshaft have some one crank engine see if you see camshaft move if it dont move bad timing belt, if it dose move do a cylinder compression test, if bad compression cylinder head will have to be remove and repaired, if good compression check for fuel and spark to spark plugs, I would not tow car could damage transmission unless if it's stander then you'll be ok.Hope this was very helpful.

Hi:
Most honda engines are interference engines. This means that the valves will hit the piston if the timing belt breaks . You can tow the car in neutral for a short tow, but if you are going really far with it, I would rent a car dolly or a trailer!

Manually resetting the factory alarm on a 2001suzuki grand vitara

I can't reset these. Dealer. But I would have the system scanned first. Make sure there isn't a problem. If the security light isn't constantly on, you may have a bad starter. Check fuses first.

Hi 2005 Isuzu Rodeo Dmax Diesel 110k miles Ireland . Cold start after Glowplug warm up, at key turn does not crank engine at all, just silence. 10 min.'s wait. today no prob with engine crank.

does car have and immobilizer on it (we dont this car in usa)thanks of saying country... VG!
intermittent no cranks!
check battery lugs for the green corrosion.?
to diagnose, no cranks, like this takes using a voltmeter. (at point of failure)
to find out witch path fails.
loss of battery power,(batteries are notorious for this) 12.6vdc rested ,
next time it don't crank, jumper cable crank it over, off a donor car.(like tow trucks do)
or swap in a known good battery form other car.
does it crank now? if yes, suspect a bad battery.

no? then we hot wire the starter solenoid,
no crank now? then bad starter.(intermittent)
or if it cranks now, yes, then a bad key line/
i'd scan the PCM to see if it's the immobilizer, blockage,(bad key errors, etc)
or other issues.
my guess it's an automatic transmission
crank it , in neutral? the operators guide shows how to do that.
if it always starts in neutral, then the Park switch is bad, in trans.(intermittent as all do)
eventually.
or intermittent starter relay.
(diy magic)
rap the relay with end of screw driver, crank now?
wiggle shifter, in park start now?>
crank in neutral, start now?
rap side of starter, with dead blow hammer, gently
like cracking a walnut not breaking rocks.
did those allow cranking?
wiggle those 2 huge battery cables. crank now>?
end magic.

What can it be? my jeep won't start, it does not crank and the battery is good.

wow one of the first posts ever to say, it wont crank....
very clear that. Its silent.
but is it automatic transmission, ill guess yes.
  1. fuses good.??
  2. battery terminals not green with rust.?
  3. does it crank in Neutral, as the operators manual states??
  4. you do know that new batteries, can be DISCHARGED right?
  5. so does jumper cable jump starts to a running donor car crank now? AAA Tow style? (oops new battery was discharged , charge it now)
  6. no, then hot wire the starter solenoid ,with keys in pocket.
  7. cranks now? , then starter is good. (i just saved you cash)
  8. no it doesn't crank now, the starter is bad, or engine is seized. (hand turn engine to discover that fact)
  9. cranks hot wired? yes,. that means the key line is dead.
  10. the Key line can be dead for 3+ reasons, aftermarket alarms added or remote start bs added, or transmission park/neutral switch is bad or ignition switch bad.
  11. to find #10 it takes a $10 volt meter, are you game?

My check enigine light came on and car stalled out now it wont turn over thinking timing belt

timing belt should not cause no turn over but perhaps if it is that you won't incure more damage like bent push rods or bent valve stems as we did several years back that cost 6000 to fix and took 3 months to get parts from Japan .get it towed to a dealer or your mechanic asap

My 2005 Suzuki Aerio won't start. I know that there is power as the lights, radio, ect are working when the ignition is turn on, but the car will not turn over. Side note, the heater blows even though it...

IS tthis a DIY question? or just want guessing? ill pretend DIY/.
no, the car will not crank.
cranking uses 100 amps of current,
the HL , maybe 10amps, 10x less.
turn over means nothing, cranking matters
both the starter and engine spin, "turns over": (1 can and other might not)
starting is a whole other matter, as is sustained start, called running.
crank?> start, started, running, 1,2,3,4.

the heater blower runs, key on, but the heater switch is off.
seem like the controller is tad upset, (lets fix engine first) and fix blower later. (my bet is it wakes up when battery is happy)

my guess is car has and automatic transmission, right>?
and as such to crank it must do so in, park and in Neutral.
does the engine crank in NEUTRAL. (hold foot brake, keyon, shift th N. ) crank now?
1: check fuses yet?
2: check rested battery voltage yet (meter) 12.6vdc.?
if less battery is bad, or only discharged. if yes, charge it?
no charger use jumper cables to crank car. got cables?
call AAA tow they jump start it? no AAA?
barrow a charged battery and try that, ok battery is charged and it will not crank,,, ,good progress now.
3: i next hot wire the starter solenoid. (some cars this is very hard)
check for about 11vdc at starter key line cranking.
0v means its dead.
hot wire that small starter wire, there, cranks now , key off
the starter is good.
now check voltage at the left side of P/N switch, Park/neutral.
12vdc id good, cranking, 11 is too.
if you cant get at least 11v out of switch 20. that means
the P/N switch is bad, (11 or more input)
(battery is good, solved that in test 2)
so bad transmission park neutral switch called the KEY line.

Where is the starter relay located on a 1993 jeep cherokee 2wd.

93 is first good year for all jeeps, lucky you are. YJ jeep.
which engine?
ask for help not parts, jeep.com parts online shows all parts so there is never a need to ask that.
ask why the starter is dead. (well what transmission) auto or stick?

no noise means NO CRANK, no engines un cranked but my M/T
fails hot and cold some times , good input , rare this. here.
and 2wd too boot, very rare this fact. stated.
ok.

when a car does not crank what do we do. (easy to hard just like AAA tow does)
  1. i wiggle key, at start position, crank now.?
  2. i wiggle the shifter, in park, and crank (PRNDL switch issues)
  3. same but move shifter to neutral, (keyon, foot on brake shift to neutral and crank, cranks now? neutral contacts good park bad.
  4. next if all above fails, (all free to do) we next check battery volts. 12.6vdc i good, 11v bad, charge it or get a new one.
  5. I then jumper cable jumper battery off runnning donor car, like AAA does. crank now? yes, battery has issues, common as nails that. No crank now, so.
  6. I then hot wire the starter soleniod. keys in pocket, it does not crank the starter is bad. it cranks now the key line is bad or

A real FSM book, online, and free.
http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service

click 93 jeep, click wiring. pdf page 64 shows your relay.
see that the fuses need to be good
and the PRNDL switch energizes the starter relay.
the PRNDL ground the relay coil , the coil gets power from the Ign. switch and RELAY pin 29 goes to 12v cranking (11v typ) and the starter cranks.
that is how it all works.
if you have a volt meter all this is super easy, and no guessing needed. ever.
if you buy a new relay and it dont fix it ,you will be back here.

My 2003 nisan bluebird had a faulty selenoid switch which was replaced . The engine cranked and run for a while. Now the engine refuses to crank and would sometimes crank and run only after some heavy

no crank
did you first try a live hot jumper cable crank? off a live donor car.
AAA Tow style.?
USING REAL JUMPER CABLES, not china tin foil?l
that be first. ok it always cranks , that means the battery is dead, not charged,or the alternator is shut down or you have phantom drains.

if the battery known good, and charged
we can hotwire the starter, if that works the starter is good.
if not bad.
if it hot wires ok that means the key line is dead.

this is how this is done,
if key line dead, wiggle that silly slushpump shifter lever or try cranking in neuTRAL.
OR HIT STARTER CASING WITH HAMMER 3 TIMES(3 FOR LUCK) CRANK NOW.?

THIS WORKS ON ALL AT CARS.

MY CAR: (X3)
m/t CAN PUSH START, IT , AND GRAVITY START IT.
AND SHORT THE CLUTCH SWITCH TO FIX BAD KEY LINE;.

If all this ok the ignition switch can be bad, or bad power distribution can not teach in 1min.

Why won't my engine turn over

lots of reasons, but you forgot to say what car it is?
ill guess car. its an Automatic. transmission car. 90% chance.
1: does it crank with jumper cables, (to a running donor car or tow truck?)
yes /no.
yes, then the battery is DISCHARGED or dead or bad.
no? then the starting system is faulty.

No, wont crank with good battery charged.
  1. Battery terminals corroded, at any of the 4 ends.
  2. hot wire the starter solenoid, cranks now keys in pocket.?
yes, then starter is good.
no , then starter is bad. or engine seized, hand turn engine. no not seized.
yes starter now works hot wired. bingo, for bad KEY line.
does wiggling the shifter, start car.
does cranking, with shifter crank car in NEUTRAL?
yes, then the PRNLD switch is bad.
No, then the key switch is bad or some alarm is blocking this path.

cant wax smarter, NO CAR STATED !@!!!

Car won't start at times

It it won't crank in park but will crank in neutral, the problem is the neutral safety switch on the transmission.

Broken alternator belt

What's the difference between 'CRANKS" or 'TURN OVER'? Do you MEAN the engine cranks (turns over) but WONT start? If this is the problem, then there are NUMEROUS possible causes (i.e., fuel pressure (fuel pump) Bad Gas/Petrol, Ignition, Air Flow, Cylinder Compression, Crank Position Sensor, vacuum leaks, Nut behind the steering wheel, ECM, etc. An alternator belt would not cause the problem you describe. Take the vehicle back to the mechanic you replaced the belt and tell him to fix it!
