How do you replace a headlight bulb (passenger side)on a 2005 Chevy Trailblazer? It looks as if both headlights are covered with 1 piece. Do I need to remove the entire piece in order to change the bulb? How would I do this? Should I have a mechanic do this to avoid any possible damage? Thanks, El

Since it's on the passenger side you'll need to remove the air filter housing & filter to get to the housing for the bulbs. Right behind that bulb housing there are two rubber coated caps (those caps are where the bulbs are located) that you'll need to remove. They can be tough to remove so it should be ok to use a flat head screwdriver to GENTLY pry the caps. Just make sure you are GENTLE with it and once it is loose use your hand to turn it counterclockwise about 1/4 turn. Gently pull it out then unplug the wire harness to it.
**** IMPORTANT*** Like most headlight bulbs, DO NOT TOUCH THE NEW BULB WITH YOUR BARE HANDS. Halogens are ruined by our natural oils and it will make your new bulb burn out extra fast. Also: The outside bulb should be the LOW BEAM and the inside should be the HIGH BEAM. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll be happy to help.

See note below for passenger side. Remove the dust cover on the back of
the head light assembly (black round rubber cover about 3" in diameter,
just pull it off), disconnect the plug on the bulb, turn the bulb
a 1/8 turn and pull it out. Then reverse the process for assembly.
***NOTE***If you are trying to replace one of the bulbs on the
passenger side, remove the air filter housing cover and displace the
filter for access to the dust covers on the back of the head light. 2
screws hold the air filter housing cover on, one directly behind it and
one on the side (drivers side of air filter housing).
Simple! (I have the same model as well) Pop off the front chevy grill - it's held on with spring clips. Then look at the headlight assembly - there are 2 slide clips on either side, near the top - they have a tab that is bent forward - lift them UP. It may take a little force as they are usually stiff. The headlight assembly can then be pulled off the car, and the bulbs replaced.
Purchase a pair of bulbs (30.00). Start by removing the plastic trim with the Chevy emblem, pry off with a screw driver. There are two tabs that hold the head light assembly in place. Pull both up and the assembly falls forward. A quarter turn releases the bulb housing. Change bulb and reassemble in reverse order.
I just replaced the low-beam bulb on my 2003 Chevy Trailblazer. The grill just needs to be loosed slightly. Then, raise two L shaped brackets, one on each side. For the inside one, I needed to use a flathead screwdriver to get to it. The light assembly can then be pulled out. Remove the rubber cover and rotate the bulb one quarter turn left to release it. Pull out the bulb, replace with a new one ($11.50) from Advance Auto Parts, and reverse the process. Once I figured it out, took about 10 minutes total.
On the drivers side pop off the black round cap from behind the light in the engine compartment and turn and release the connector. On the passenger side remove the air filter housing and remove cap and connector. this is very tight and the wire harness is short. It is mostly a one handed operation. Good luck.
Thank you for sharing the information on the light bulb. You just saved me money from having to take my 2003 Trailblazer in to have the low beam bulb replaced. I did exactly what you said.
1 Open hood and lock.
2. Take filter cover off (4 screws and they stay with the filter).
3. 3 inch cover pulls off.
4. Twist light bulb 1/8 turn.
5. Unclip the wiring harness to light bulb assembly.
6. Test by turning light switch on.
7. Align assembly with light housing and turn 1/8 until it snaps in.
8. Put 3 inch cover back on.
9. Place filter cover back on and hand tight the 4 screws.
10. Close hood.
