Maita charging problem

Rather than just replacing things, check that the alternator belt is properly tensioned first. If it's too loose and slipping you won't get proper output from the alternator. On the 90 you should only be able to press in at the center of the belt span about 3/8 of an inch.

If the belt looks OK, then get some testing done. I'm not sure if you're in the US but an Autozone or Advance Auto Parts store will connect a free diagnostic tester to the vehicle which can usually identify exactly what the problem is. Note that remanufactured alternators can often be defective right out of the box.

My 1990 dodge dakota keeps throwing its belt

If you are not using a new belt, go get a new one. Belts stretch out over time.

If you are using a new belt, look at the part number on the belt and write it down. Take that down to an auto parts store and ask them for a belt between half-an-inch to an inch smaller. Replacing your alternator bracket may have changed the position of the alternator pulley in relation to the other routing points. Since it is throwing the belt, the stock belt is now too large, and you should try the next size down.

I have juct replaced alternator belt but now need to replace power steering/ aircon belt. is it ok to drive without for a short distance

It won't harm anything on a short drive. Remember that it will be much harder to turn the car especially in intersections so try to plan ahead. Hope this helps.

Don't know your engine size so pick the appropriate one:

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Tag and disconnect the wire and connector from the alternator.

Belt between water pump & alternator squealed and popped off - di

You could have the wrong size or the serpentine belt was routed wrong. Double check the routing and the length of the belt, the other thing to that is know to happen is the belt tension pulley has gone bad and needs to be replaced. Recap, check the routing of the belt, belt length, tension pulley for any damage. Good luck and hope this helps.

Alternator drive belt squealing

yeh, mine did the same thing with a hydralic belt. it was the bearings. mazda capellas use a lot of 6202 bearings which, luckily, are fairly cheap, and are commonly used in pool pumps. so you can find them at pool pump repair stores. although pool pumps use 6202 2RSR bearings. these are just the water proof type, but are excactly the same size and can be used.
to test if it is a bearing problem, remove the belt and try to twist the individual wheels by hand, you should be able to turn the 2 smaller ones.
from memory the alternator belt is in a fairly in accessable postition so the belt is going to be hard to put back on.try other things first, like wiping the inner side of the belt with a dry cloth to remove moisture.
worst case senario is your alternator has, or is starting to, seize up and you need to replace it.

Mazda 626 1990

Start by disconnecting the battery, remove the belt on the alternator, you will probably have to loosen or remove the bolts holding it on to the bracket, it makes it easier to get the belt off, pay attention to how you remove it, then get it tested, if its bad get a new one and install.
