Starter does not work with the key.
When shorting the starter to get it to turn over.
    The plugs do get spark..
Well be checking Fusible link today

The starter will not work with the key? The starter will work if it is by-passed? Are all of the wires and fusible link(s) at the starter good? You can tell a bad fusible link because it stretches like a rubber band.

This problem can be caused by many things. But, the ignition module is responsible for firing the spark plugs, then sending the spark signal to the PCM so the PCM can fire the injectors and run the pump. The module gets a signal from the camshaft position sensor. I just fixed this problem on a Saturn and it ended up being a bad EST wire from the module to the PCM. It can also be a bad module or a bad fuse on either system. Check all of the fuses under the hood and inside the car. The module can be removed and tested for free at Auto Zone.

My 99 Windstar ran out of gas. Changed fuses 5&207; checked fuel injector. Added 2 gallons gas, turned key to "on" 3x's. STILL NOT STARTING!!

although rare it is possible to destroy the fuel pump by running tank to m/t , a quick check to see if this is the case is to sit in car with door open , hold your foot on door jam switch (stops chime) and turn key to run (not start) once or twice in a row , if your pump is still working , you will hear fuel injectors prime , (elect motor runs for three seconds ) you may have to listen carefully and repeat test several times to hear it (quiet place helps !!) if you don't hear the pump prime !! and you ck/replaced the fuel pump fuse already , it will need replaced (its inside fuel tank !!)

98 oldsmobile silhouette overheated turned off then i kept trying to turn it on over and over again while stepping on gas many times!

Your vehicle is fuel injected , stepping on the gas pedal does nothing . Unless you push it to the floor an hold it there ! That is WOT - wide open throttle cut off ! Keeps fuel injectors for squirting fuel ! The light's on the dash have a three second prove out ,lets you know the systems associated with each light is working ! Doesn't sound like you know a lot about cars . Your best bet would be to take your vehicle to a qualified repair shop . The fuel pump is controlled by the PCM - engine computer , when you first turn the key on the PCM energizes the fuel pump relay for two seconds ,priming the fuel lines ! If there were not input from crankshaft position sensor to the PCM, the PCM will not energizes the fuel pump relay at all .

Tries to start but won't stay running/ I have already changes the ecu plus fuel pump and pressure regulator

Hey dale how's it going ? Before changing parts you need to test first , because it tries to start I'd say you have a fuel delivery problem ! What year, make an model vehicle do you have ? Are there any lights lit on the dash , check engine ,security lights ? Did you check for battery voltage at the fuel pump relay ? how about at the fuel pump ? Did you listen to see if you could hear the pump running ? Did you use a fuel pump pressure gauge ? Is the PCM - engine computer turning on the injectors ? When you replace a ecm / ecu / pcm there need to be programmed in most cases ! Fuel Pressure Test The video on misfires was unintentional ! How to test an electric fuel pump

Fuel pump wont shut off turn key on it comes on to pressurize then it wont shut off but there are no leaks

There is an oil pressure switch in parallel with fuel pump relay, if that switch is closed, the fuel pump will run all the time. Click on the link. At the fuel injectors, top wire is voltage, bottom wire is ground. If there is no ground, both wires will have voltage. Make sure battery has a full charge.

My 1998 monte carlo runs as long as u put gas down the multi thing changed the fuel filter wat could it be gas goes threw the filter

Is the fuel pump turning on? You should hear a 2 or 3 second buzz or hum from the rear (the pump will be on for that long) when you turn the key to on. If you hear nothing, check the fuel pump fuse, could be in the fuse panel inside the car, or under the hood in the relay/fuse box.
If you don't hear it, the pump may have failed. To be certain, one needs to check if there is any gas under pressure at the engine. Or one could check for power at the fuel pump connector when the engine is being cranked over-if power there, but pump does not work, pretty certain it is a failed pump-tank will have to be removed to change the pump.
If the pump is working, next thing to check would be the fuel injectors and injector circuit. There should also be a fuse for the injectors-probably in the under hood fuse box.

1988 chevy beretta car will not pump fuel at fuel injector put in new injector but still does not pump

Skinnymin, you need to understand what and how injectors work. They do not pump, all they do is open from an electrical signal and let pressurized fuel spray out the bottom of the injector. Your beretta is either not getting the signal to the injectors to open them, or the fuel pump in your gas tank is not working to pressurize the line to the injector. In most cases, it is a faulty fuel; pump. Do yopu know if your pump is working? Here is a check: since the fan comes on with key, you may have difficulty hearing the pump, so have a helper. With the gas filler cap off, stand as close as you can get to the tank and listen for the pump to whirr on for about 2 or 3 seconds when the key is turned to on. It's supposed to turn on with key on to pressurize the lines, and if the car is not then turned to crank,. the pump will turn off until the car is cranked over-you can't hear the pump when the car is cranking or running, but you should hear the pump come on with keyt on for about 2 seconds. If you hear nothing from the tank., suspect a bad pump, or a wiring prtoblem with it not coming on. If you do hear the pump's whine( or whirr, or buzz), then pull off the electrical connector to the injector and check for power on one of the two wires in the connector with the key to on. One is a hot wire and is constant voltage with key on. The other wire is a ground for the injector. When the computer briefly grounds the injector wire ground, the injector is energized, raising a little pin on bottom of injector, for fuel to spray out. Understand it better now? So, check your fuel pump, if it is working, check the injector circuit.
The fan circuit is a tricky little apparatus, too. Includes the electronic coolant temperature sensor -ECT sensor- ( the temp. sensor for the computer, not the one for your dash gauge), also a fan relay and the computer. The computer turns on the relay for the fans when the temp. sensor gets to a certain temperature. You may just have a faulty ECT sensor or a faulty relay. In most cases, it is a bad sensor.Good luck with your '88.

No signal to fuel pump or injecters

Pressure in the rail indicates the pump is working.
When the key is turned on, the pump will come on for about 2 seconds to pressurize the fuel system. Then pump will shut off and not come on again until the engine is cranked. When cranked or when running, the pump will be on full time. To check if the pump is getting a signal, the engine must be cranking over. Or you may pick up that 1 or 2 second signal when the key is first turned to on. Is this the way you checked for power to the pump? How much pressure are you getting at the rail? Any pressure at all means the pump put it there.
Injector circuit test: Use a testlight and ground it to the engine. Pull off an injector connector and turn key to on. Probe the two wires to the injector. One wire should have power and light the testlight. If it does, the power side to injector is good. If nothing there, the injector drive circuit is out.
If you got a steady light on one wire, then check the injector ground circuit. Move the testlight lead from ground to the positive battery post. Now probe the injector connector's wire that did not light the testlight, while someone cranks the car over. If working right, the testlight should now be blinking, meaning the computer is properly grounding the circuit for injector to pulse. If both tests pass, the injector circuit is working right.
Good luck.

The car wont start whe have already recharged and tryed to start and it still wont start the lights come on on the dash but it dosent do anything

This is a generic answer: Assuming that the engine starter turns and cranks the engine; it could be a fuel system related issue. Start by looking into these areas: fuel filter / fuel pump / injectors. Check for open / blown / missing fuses, and if it has been in an accident, some models have an "inertia switch" that is designed to cut power to the fuel pump after being bumped hard. You'll have to locate it and reset it if it has been tripped. Many cars with electric fuel pumps run when the key is inserted and turned to the run position. If you have someone crouch down near the gas tank when you first turn the key from off to run, they might be able to hear the pump run. It will run for a few seconds and shut off - unless the key is turned to start and the engine is runs.

What you need to do is turn the key on and let the fuel pump run. Turn the key off and repeat about 20 times or so. Eventually it will start it just takes some time to get it primed. You can also do that and on the fuel rail there is a re-leaf valve. Crack that open to get the air out until you get a steady fuel stream.

If it is similar to Quest, the fuel pump runs for 5 seconds when you turn the key to ON. Then, unless the engine is running, the pump shuts off. It runs when the key is in START position though. Can you hear the pump run for 5 seconds when you turn key to ON? Listen carefully for the hum of the pump in the tank.
Normally, the power relay powers up the PCM and it applies power to the fuel pump relay. Then you get power to the pump.
Also, look at owner manual for all fuses that apply to fuel pump system.
