Dodge Neon low oil pressure

Hi John, Im AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair.

John, Low oil pressure can be many things. BUT, first you need to hook up an oil pressure gauge just to make sure its not the oil pressure sensor. If you have already put a new sensor on and it still has low oil pressure then you still need to check pressure with a gauge to make sure its not in the wiring or connector. If you find good oil pressure with the gauge then it need to be check to see why the pressure is low. It could be oil pump OR bearing issue. Hope this helps and please visit my auto-repair-website here: http://www.bigasautorepair.com/

Has 358000 miles, just had leaks repaired. Twice since my oil pressure gauge reads no pressure but not all the time? Why

1. Oil Pressure Gauge Not Working You will notice this happens when your oil pressure gauge is not reading, whether the engine is turned off, idle or running. Try to step on the gas to rev up the engine. If the oil pressure gauge still doesn't change its reading, your gauge is busted. It's best to replace it as soon as possible because you won't have any idea if your car is already overheating or not.
2. Oil Pressure Gauge Reading Too Low When your engine is idle, the oil pressure gauge will have a low reading. When the engine starts running or when you're already cruising or on the freeway, your gauge's reading should have increased. If it stays on a low reading, then you now your oil pressure gauge is broken.
3. Oil Pressure Gauge Reading Too High Another common oil pressure gauge problem is when your oil pressure gauge is reading too high when your engine is idle or when it's turned off. Rep

2007 TOYOTA CAMRY LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE

After the obvious, checking the oil level, the next step is to remove the oil pressure sensor and connect an oil pressure gauge. It sounds like you have already done this, so on to other things.

Try changing the oil filter in case it has a weak overpressure valve (meant to pass oil if the filter becomes blocked).

Some Camrys of this era suffered engine sludging, and if this has occurred it may have partly blocked the oil pickup in the sump.

After that suspect a faulty overpressure relief valve in the oil pump, or even a worn pump (this is rare in a 2007).

Worn big end and crank bearings will cause low oil pressure, but if that has occurred you would normally notice the engine burning oil (blue smoke). This and the oil pickup can be checked by dropping the sump, best done on a hoist.

Low oil pressure light comes on when i stop giving the car gas like when i come to a stop sign or light and every now and again the check engine light comes on. I change the oil to a heavier oil and the...

This may mean engine wear or bad oil pump. I would have the oil pressure tested to see if its a shot some where or if the pressure is really low, this is done by removing the sensor and installing a gauge and driving the car to see if the pressure is low, if the pressure is low then more checking is neede to see why,you may have worn engine bearings or bad oil pump. depending on the mileage it may be smarter to replace the engine, not knowing what internal damage has been done already. good day.

My low oil pressure light has come on in my Ferrari 599 2008. What does this mean.

It means you have low engine oil pressure due to a failed oil pressure pump or pressure regulator which IS going to lead to engine failure very soon or you have a faulty sending unit or gauge. Do not drive it, get it towed to the dealer! Not meaning any dis respect to your self, but have you checked the oil on your dip stick? Low engine oil level will also cause this...if it's very low or not on the dip stick again do not drive it but go get oil with a friend and top it up and start your car...if the low oil pressure light goes away you got lucky, but there is the possibility you have already harmed the engine depending on how long the light has been on and you may want to see your dealer...we're not talking about a hyundai here, your engine is probably more valuable! haha

Oil Pressure Gauge Drops to zero when Idle and there is some oil leaking

Low oil pressure can and will destroy your engine. Check the oil level. If it's full or just a little low (1quart or little lower) then you have a serious problem already. If it is lower than a quart and a half, re-fill it and check pressure. If it's OK, then find the leak and fix it. If after filling it pressure does not return to normal then you already have a serious problem. have the actual pressure checked with a mechanical gauge and proceed from there. (likely bad bearings) If main bearings are involved, unless you remove the engine and re-grind the crankshaft and clean out the oil passages, you are wasting your $. Usually cheaper to replace the engine and more reliable as well.

Oil can icon on the dashboard of chrysler 300 -what to do??

oil light indicates one of two things, Low oil pressure. or Low oil level. Check the level on the dipstick (consult owners manual), if it is low fill it to the "full" line with fresh oil of the correct grade. Also the oil on the disptick should look syrupy golden, not black and dirty - if the oil looks filthy then get it changed, old oil is thinner and results in lower pressure... if it is already at or near the FULL line then you have a more serious problem - low oil pressure is caused by a, faulty oil pump b, worn engine c, wrong grade of oil d, not enough oil e, contaminated oil Also a faulty oil pressure switch could bring the light on... so check this before you have the engine stripped!!!!!
An oil change will cost very little money and could solve the problem, if the light is still on with new oil then chave the oil pressure switch tested... if not the switch than it is a "real" engine problem and needs proper investigation.
IT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA TO DRIVE WITH THE OIL LIGHT ON Unless you know it is an electrical fault and not truly a low oil pressure condition bringing on the light.

CHECK OIL - fill if necesary - light hopefully goes off... STILL ON - have switch tested - switch is hopefully faulty - replace it... STILL ON - have engine checked out - it is losing pressure somewhere

My oil light flickers on and off at low idle what do you think is wrong?

You have answered your own question. You idle is too low. Check all hoses, and gaskets for leaks.

My oil light keeps

You need to have oil pressure checked manually with oil pressure guage. There is a good possibility that the engine has excessive wear or a bad oil pump and oil pressure is really low. (It's like have a bad heart) That would definitely trigger oil light. If you have low pressure and its not taken care of immediately it will ruin the engine from lack of lubrication to vital parts. Good Luck contact me if you need more help. Thanks for using FIX YA

1996 oldsmobile aurora oil pressure sensor says low oil pressure my mechanic checked it out and replaced the oil pressure sensor and problem still exsists he tested the oil pressure recommended 20 PSI when...

The Aurora is a low pressure oil system. The only solution available at this time is to increase the oil weight. I went o straight 30W to solve the idle alarm issue. Some use 20W oil and that works too.
With 20W you will be at 80 to 90psi cold then drop to 20-30psi hot.
I first replaced the oil pressure gauge and it was worse. I put the original back in and it was better. Then went to 30W and all is fine.
Running it that way for a few years now.
