Could be a couple of things...cheapest first okay?

1. Low coolant level

2. Thermostat is starting to fail

3. Radiator fins are extremely dirt (wash off with hose!)

4. Fan belt/Serpentine belt is wearing out on underside (starting to slip)

5. Water pump is starting to go bad

6. Need to flush the coolant system.

You can't get to the bolts without dropping the tranny. The 1st gear synchro is worn. You can exchange it with the 4th gear synchro to save a little money. While you're at it check the thrust bearings for 1st gear too. Might be time to just rebuild it.

Overheating honda prelude

Have you tried bleeding the air out of the cooling system, this is required when you drain out the coolant, any air pockets will keep the thermostat from opening and engine will overheat or in some cases get hot then drop down and get hot again, over and over.

2003 civic overheats at idle, ok when moving, fans are working

Sounds like the fins radiator is plugged with dirt and not enough air can flow thru it. Try blowing it out with compressed air

1. The radiator fan relay switch may be bad. Replace the little black box in the fusebox under the hood.
The socket is marked "Radiator fan".

2. The radiator fan may not be spinning. The motor may be disconnected or burned-out.

3. The lower radiator hose may be collapsing. It should be "firm" and not "squishy". There is a metal stent lining the hose. It may have rusted and collapsed.

Over heated now wont start

you most likly blew the head gasket and destroyed the top half of your motor. NEVER EVER run a vehicle hot, you're just asking for trouble, becuase now your motor is most likly seized

so most likly you need a new motor or have yours rebuilt, either way your looking at at LEAST 1000 bucks

so dont drive when vehicle is hot
