Question about 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier
I have sprayed wd 40 and try wiggling the steering wheel as i turn the key. I have to perform this step many times before i get it to turn over. I believe the ignition switch is bad or going bad.
It's not the ignition switch that is bad it is the ignition lock cylinder. We are likely both thinking the same thing, the part that the key goes in, but when you go to get another one it is the ignition lock cylinder.

can be faulty ignition lock cylinder. I suggest to wiggle the steering wheel
a bit and see if the key turns to start mode. If that is not helping
then first turn steering wheel to right and try , or next turn
steering wheel to left and see if you can turn the key.
wd-40 in the ignition key hole and let it remain there for few minutes, after
that once again try to turn the key and see if that helps.
if that is not helping then ignition lock cylinder has to be removed out and
