Question about 1991 Toyota Celica

Dash and tail lights stopped working on my daughters 1991 toyota celica gt. the fuse has been checked and replaced. it was ok. the headlights were recently changed. is it true the dash and tail lights run off the same switch as the headlights? is there a headlight wire loose perhaps? the guy at auto zone put her new headlights on.

Under your clutch there is a switch. That switch might need replacing. The auto parts store calls it a breaklight switch. And no, headlights haveva relay.

If the tail lights and the dash lights stopped working and the tail light and the panel lighting fuses are both o.k. and you can find no other blown fuses then the problem is most likely the headlight switch.

Assuming the fuses are ok, I would check for voltage at the headlight switch.

No dash lights


Check the obvious first. Is the fuse ok? When you turn on the headlights do all the outside lights work correctly? check the fuse, if its ok check the headlight switch.

check the fuse.
Unless you just had something done in the dash, it is easiest to check the fuse first.
Instrament lights and tail lights are on the same circuit .

Have you looked under the hood? There are more fuses under the hood. Is your dimmer turned down on your dash lights?

Dash and tail lights on a '91 Lincoln Town Car - quit working


From what you just said i dont belive the mechanic checked your fuses correctly.

Check your self to confirm, But if no avial i belive the controller for your lighting may be fried.

You have a dimmer switch for those lights. That would be the next thing to check. Try operating the switch to see if anything happens.
