There is no mandator removal and replacement interval on any vehicles calipers. The reason that calipers have to be replaces is that they corrode and the pistons can not be removed from the caliper for re-building them. Another reason they possibly may hae to be replaced is that they got very very hot and are no longer in the same mechanical position they need to be to operate normally. (Bent) On other reason for replacement is accident damage or the caliper has been struck by a road hazard and will no longer hold pressure because the caliper housing is cracked.

Most of the time a caliper can be rebuilt by having the piston seals replaced or the piston changed with new seals. Other than reasons above.... that is the brake caliper story.

Thanks for using FixYa.

They don't have a service interval. You just replace them if they are bad.

Changed calipers and now brake pedal sinks all the way to the floor. What do I do now? The car is a 1998 Cadillac Deville. Thanks!

After you changed the calipers did you pump the brake pedal til it came back up to normal? If not you have to do this to get the pistons back up against the pads. The pedal should come back up.Also did you bleed the brakes after you reinstalled the calipers. This also has to be done first.I should have mentioned this first before pumping the pedal.Sorry.So bleed the brakes first.
