Question about 1986 Mercedes-Benz S-Class
Not much to it at all
1.) Drain the radiator, there will be a drain plug at the bottom, just make sure the radiator cap is off otherwise it takes a lot longer
2.) While the coolant is draining into a clean container, remove the transmission cooling lines, if attached, most used a seprate cooler for the trans
3.) Once the coolant is drained, removed the lower and upper radiator hoses. Remember, there is still coolant in the system so you will probably have coolant in the hoses
4.) if you have an electric coolling fan(s) remove them now. Simply unplug and unbolt
5.) Once the coolant in drained, the hoses are removed and the fan is gone, there should be two bolts for the radiator, remove them and lift the radiator out
Reverse procedure to install and fill with new coolant @ 50/50
you could re-use the old stuff but I would not recommended it
Fianally, when you get the new radiator, ask the parts person for a radiator conditioner. Some times they come preconditioned, sometimes its in the box and sometimes you have to buy them separate.
If you have any other questions please feel free to ask!
