IF YOU PUT NEW OIL PUMP.PROBLEM IS YOU DID NOT PLASTIGAGE THE ROD BEARING JOURNAL OR CRANKSHAFT JOURNALS PROBABLY THEY ARE WORN DOWN TO A POINT WHERE CRANKSHAFT NEEDS TO BE REGROUND.IF YOU PUT IN NEW BEARINGS THE CLEARANCE BETWEEN BEARING AND CRANKSHAFT IS EXCESSIVE.BEARING CANT BUILD OIL PRESSURE.THAT PROBABLY WHY YOU DONT HAVE OIL PRESSURE OR OIL PUMP FAULTY.

Well the cam bearings will have to do with this also,if it has them,if not it can be the wear in the cam carriers. But most likely the crankshaft journals are worn to much, the crank would need turning, and over size rod,and main bearings would need to be installed.

When at a stop oil gage drops to zero and says check gages

Either your oil pump pick up screen is clogged or the oil pump is going out or there is excessive wear on the main bearings. Most likely the screen.
You need to drop the oil pan to access the screen and pump.

You can try a new oil pump, but in my 30 plus years 99 out of 100 your bearings are gone! you would have to pull the oil pan to do oil pump so i would pull 2 or3 main crank caps and check bearings if badly scrached or copper spots showing through aliumun coating there is your low oil press. probiem.you will need a new motor sorry. My 1995 accord ex 5spd oil light flashes but it has recommended amount of oil in it. The manual says its low oil pressure. Do i need a new oil pump? what?

Low oil pressure can be from a restriction in the filter, a weak oil pump or excess clearnance between the crankshaft, camshaft, main and rod bearings. Low oil pressure when the engine has adequate oil means the engine is in need of at least a pump. It may even need an overhaul. My question would be does it run OK not leak or smoke and have good fuel economy. The best case if everything is running fine is that the sending unit is defective.

Oil pressure dropped to zero when stopped at a stop light, picks back up when driving down the road. checked oil have plenty, coolant also reading low

Unfortunately this sounds like the symptoms of worn main engine bearings. Most likely crankshaft, but possibly connecting rod bearings as well. When the bearings wear to a point that the oil clearance between the lobe and the bearing is to far out of spec this causes a drop in oil pressure throughout the oil system. If you continue to drive the Jeep more damage WILL be done, in particular to the valve trane. Normally to replace the main bearing the engine is removed from the vehicle. I have replaced main (crankshaft) bearings without removing the engine, but it is a time consuming process. If you're interested in a tutorial of how I have done this, post comments in this thread.

OIL PUMP WORKS WHEN IT IS COLD. WHEN IT GETS HOT AND YOU'R AT IDLE THE OIL PREASURE DROPS TO NOTHING.WHEN YOU SPEED BACK UP,THE OIL PREASURE GOES BACK UP?

the oil pump is working when it,s hot too you just don,t see the results because the oil is now hot and thinner once engine comes up to operating temp. the tolerances on the main and rod bearings are so large that the pump cannot produce pressure have you ever tried to wash car with just water hose does not work well you put your finger over the end of hose create a restriction and now you have pressure water sprays out hard well when all bearing surfaces are in good shape and bearing clearences are in spec. it is a very tight fit that the pump has to pump oil out of pan thru oil galleries and to and thru bearings this produces pressure pull the oil pan mark it,s location remove one main bearing cap and one rod bearing cap plasti-gage and you will see your problem

If you have zero oil pressure thats a BAD sign, first have a mechanic check what the engines actual oil pressures are.

1989 honda accord lxi fi oil light

Sounds like there is an oil pressure problem. Now this can be due to several factors. 1. low oil level in car
2. bad oil pump
3.bad oil pressure switch /sending unit
4. last but not least check oil filter and make sure its not clogged.
worn engine main/connecting rod bearings.
have pressure checked with a manual guage at oil pressure switch for the correct pressure. If that's good then the switch is bad and problem solved.
if it low then you will have to check pump and bearings. Contact if you need more help and thanks for using FIX YA

1997 honda accord 4 cyl auto ac compressor makes noise when you first take off and when you slow down and take off again,is it the clutches going bad?

it could be a bearing going bad, i had the same problem in my ford focus with noises then a week later the bearing locked up, go get it checked ASAP to avoid an $800+ repair bill. it could be low on oil and freon, it probably needs to be flushed out and new oil put in and new freon as well.
