How do you open the fuel tank door on a 1991 pathfinder that has been sitting for 12 months or longer. I tried to push it in and see oif it would open no luck. I turned the key on and tried again - no luck. I just finished engin e r epair and am having trouble setting the timing but it is out of gas nmoow andn I can't open trhe door without breaking it. What am I doing wrong? Help!
IF U LOOK UNDER THE TRIM PANEL ON THE INSIDE OF THE TRUCK BEHIND WHERE THE FUEL DOOR IS YOU WILL FIND A TINY CABLE WITH A PLASTIC PADDLE HANDLE, THIS IS THE EMERGENCY FUEL DOOR RELEASE WHEN ALL ELSE FAILS, IF THIS DOESN'T OPEN THE DOOR U MUST DO WHATEVER IS REQUIRED TO GET THE DOOR OPEN, THERE IS NO MAGIC FIX, SORRY.

Thanks a bunch!!!! Now as to my second question- How do I set the timing right on the used engine I had put in? Right now he engine runs rough and then dies out.. THae little gas that I had in it is gone and and before I can try again I got to get some more gas in it providing I have no trojuble wtih the fuel door. I will go down and see if I can find that cable you are talking aboujt.
OPened up the trim panel - The wire pull handle is broken off but I got a coat hanger - made a hook on it and inserted it/ pulled and WELLA - it opened - Thanks a bunch!!!!
