Question about 2001 Oldsmobile Alero
This transmission has a fill cap. On the side of the trans near the bottom is a plug you remove to check the level; simular to a rear end or manual trans. The car needs to be running in park.

It doesn't have one. You remove a plug by the passenger cv shaft and fill the trans until oil runs from the plug hole with the engine running.

As was mentioned, there isn't one. There is a small bolt on the side of the transmission pan (facing the front of the car) that is pulled and checked by the service mechanic. If a few drops of tranny fluid are released when the bolt is pulled, there is adequate fluid in the transmission.

this car has a so called maintenace free transmission so there is no dipstick, if it is shifting hard i used lucas oil transmission fix and worked great. there is a red cap for the transmission on the left side of the engine compartment it is hard to get to.

TRANSMISSION DONT HAVE A DIP STICK.IT HAS A RED FILLER CAP INSTEAD.TO CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID THE CAR HAS TO PUT ON A LIFT LEVEL.TRANSMISSION HAS A CHECK PLUG.ITS UNDER THE EXTENSION HOUSING.THE OIL PAN DRAIN PLUG IS BELOW IT.YOU NEED A DRAIN PAN AND THE CAR NEED TO BE RUNNING AT OPERATING TEMPERATURE.WITH ENGINE RUNNING YOU REMOVE THE CHECK PLUG.IF NO FLUID DIPS OUT YOU NEED TO ADD SOME FLUID.IT FLUID POURS OUT YOU HAVE TOO MUCH TRANSMISSION FLUID IN SYSTEM.IF YOU GET A SLOW DRIP YOU HAVE THE CORRECT AMOUNT OF FLUID IN TRANSMISSION.THE CAR HAS TO BE LEVEL AND YOU PUT FLUID IN THE TOP OF TRANSMISSION WHERE THE RED VENT FILL CAP IS.YOU NEED A LONG LONG FUNNEL TO PUT FLUID IN WITH OUT SPILLING FLUID ALL OVER THE PLACE.

there is no transmission dip stick on this car. It has a sealed system and you need to take it to the dealer or a repair shop who can work on this car.

SOURCE: where is the transmission dip
It doesn't have one. You have to remove a plug by the passengers side cv shaft and fill the trans with the engine running until fluid runs from the hole.

Welcome to FIxYa.com
You have a dip stick to check it with. Start engine let it warm up to operating temp then pull dip stick wipe off end the dip it back in and pull it back out and read level on stick. Do not over fill. transmission fluid rises with heat
