Yes its expensive, you will need to replace the fuel pump module. if it has over 100k miles, i would replace it. You can just replace the sending unit, but its just as much work to replace the fuel pump module. the Chevy dealer will have what you need, You may be able to get it from a ac delco dealer cheaper . If you can take the tank out, you can do it yourself. be sure to replace the fuel filter also. make sure the tank is near empty.

check tire pressure, replace air filter, fast take offs, slipping transmission torque converter or slipping clutch on manual transmission.lot city driving making a lot of short stops, clogged leaking fuel injectors, faulty coolant thermostat remains stuck open, running ac or air conditioner a lot will cause fuel consumption, dragging rear parking brakes need adjustment, look for gas leaks.if you do a lot of towing pulling boat or camper will cause fuel consuption.

Before lowering the gas tank on my '94 full size blazer-is there a way in from the floor of the way back inside the blazer or do I need to drop the tank to access the fuel lines? I can't easily...

This is a very dangerous job - working over head - electrical and gas circuits - dirt in the face - heavy tank - draining the fuel - not to mention the reinstall and reassembly. I am a back yard mechanic - I have done 5 for myself and I will never do another one.

Typically - no - there is no way to get into the tank other than to remove it to get access to the innards.

OBDI 11 ERROR CODE P1494 EVAP leak detection pump pressure switch condition

This is gonna blow your mind: I had the same problem with my 02 Chev Blazer and braced myself for an awesomely expensive fix. I kept getting the same response from the experts, though: "you WILL NOT get an evap failure - did you forget to close your gas cap?"

Buy a new gas cap, then run your Jeep for a week or so. The air in your fuel system should work itself out and kill the check engine light.
