I'm trying to get a ballpark figure for repairing my 2000 jeep grand cherokee. It appears that I may have blown the heads in it. I was having a problem with it blowing the coolant back out of it. I started driving it for a few miles and it started knocking (not a hollow thud but more like loud clicking). So, I think the heads are blown. I'm just curious what sort of investment I'm looking at.??

Wow so many variables. warped heads/ damage to the cam/rods/valve/ valve lifters.
possibly a whole lot more problems.
i blew a head gasket on a car. replaced it for about 40 bucks and several hours labourgh.
the thing never did work great after that.

Have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado with a blown head gasket. The problem is we have lost the key and no garage will fix the head without a key and the dealership can't program a new key withou
First I would check with a different dealership. you will be required to provide only the VIN and probably some verification that you own the car, but the dealership can make a key and program it without the car even being there. I hope this helps.

fifteen hundred is a good ballpark figure. Add or subtract from there depending upon it's overall condition. GC's aren't as highly valued as they once were because they don't get really great gas mileage

CHECK YOUR OIL. IF THERE IS WHITE STUFF IN IT THAT WHITE STUFF IS WATER, AND YOU HAVE A BLOWN HEAD GASKET OR A BLOWN INTAKE GASKET. EITHER WAY IT MEANS TEARING DOWN THE TOP HALF OF THE MOTOR. ALSO, IT CAN BE THE WATER PUMP, IF THERE IS NOT ANY WATER IN YOUR OIL. OR YOUR RADIATOR IS CLOGGED.

The plastic molding piece that covers the front speaker on the dash can be pried up carefully along the seam. Then you just unplug the speaker and remove the mounting screws. very easy job.
