A diagnostic for $120 is not bad if there was something wrong and it ended up fixed (plus more if parts add up).
But that is too much if no success.
He should have printed out a list of codes downloaded from the car's control module.
We can't help you with that until we know the codes. And a place like Autozone will read the codes for free.
Sure it could be the fuel injection, but is much more likely to be the oxygen sensor, loose gas cap, bad temp sensor, bad spark plug wire, etc.
