2002 Buick Century showing P0446 and P0452

I have a 2002 Buick Century and my SES light went on. I checked the codes and I pulled a P0446 and a P0452. My mechanic replaced the vent solenoid and cleared the codes. A week later the SES light came back and with the same codes. Does anyone have experience with this kind of issue and how to solve it?

Take it back to your mechanic and have him check it again, he may have missed something, or it has more wrong with it than he found on that visit.

what is EVAP. that is the Gas tank, fume venting system.
the #1 all time failure, is loose gas cap.
or wrong cap ,purchased and installed.
beyond that , you need to do tests. its all in the FSM or alldata dot com, and is a whole huge section on EVAP in all cars 89 to present. and is the #1 cause of pollution in USA today.

Codes 446 and 452

P0446 has nothing to do with the canistor !
DTC P0446 Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Vent System Performance
This DTC tests the evaporative emission (EVAP) system for a restricted or blocked EVAP vent path. The control module commands the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve Open and the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve Closed. This allows vacuum to be applied to the EVAP system. Once a calibrated vacuum level has been reached, the control module commands the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve Closed and the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve Open. The control module monitors the fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor for a decrease in vacuum. If the vacuum does not decrease to near 0 inches H2O in a calibrated time, this DTC sets.

I have a 2002 Buick Century 3.1 l engine that comes back with a P0446 code. does anybody know what this means and what the cure is ?

That is an EVAP code (gasoline vapors from the tank)
Make sure the gas cap is on ,could just be a line or hose leaking (not gas just vapor).Careful inspection of the vapor lines may find it.
There is a small green cap on a black plastic line under the hood, should be somewhere near the front valve cover ,top of intake manifold. If you blow smoke into the testport you may be able to find it that way.

My 2002 buick want start i think its in the wiring harness behind drivers seat but i cant tell but it all corroded a pins might missing. also my gas gage goes haywire, my obd2 codes p0449,p0452

P0449, which is a code for solenoid CONTROL CIRCUIT. You could just have a loose or broken wire or connector as you stated, P0452, which is a code for Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Low Input

I just changed the oil in my 1994 buick century and the service engine soon light come on after, how do i reset this?

SES lights aren't maintenance lights, it means you have a trouble code set in the computer. Only way to "reset" it is to have it checked and repaired.

Buick century 2003, service engine soon ligth is on

Hello! The SES light can be triggered by any number of things. The best way to determine what error code (DTC) is being reported, is to have the car's computer scanned. Any major auto parts retailer (Advance Auto, AutoZone, PepBoys, etc) can scan your vehicle, retrieve the error codes and the details to them, and then reset the codes as well.

Hope this helps, and good luck. Thanks for using FixYa!

2002 Buick Century, when the tank is 1/4 full,

P0446 Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit Malfunction

The evaporative emission control system checks to make sure there are no leaks in the lines that run from the gas tank to the charcoal canister and up to the engine. It also checks to make sure the gas cap is sealing correctly.
It may just be that the cap was not on tight and the code was tripped.

A dusty environment can also clog the vent line and cause this code.
Have the code cleared and see if it comes back. Some auto parts stores like Auto Zone can read and clear the codes for you.
Hope this helps.
