HI. The first area of concern will be the fuel filter. If this component is clogged or restricted, it will not allow for proper passage of the needed fuel to the injector assembly. I would recommend to replace the fuel filter asap, if not done so already. Next area of concern will be the Positive Crankcase Ventilation Valve and corresponding hoses. Make sure that the hoses are not collapsed, and there is nothing blocking the valve, itself. Replace the valve if faults are present ,or if the valve seems to be stuck in one position. Another area of concern will be the actual air filter. A dirty air filter will cause acceleration issues, as well. This is an easy inspection and can be done, visibly. Simply remove the air filter from its housing and, visibly, check the paper based filter for contaminants. Replace the filter if needed.

Now, if all is well with the above areas, move on to the injector assembly. one or more of the injector(s) may be clogged or damaged. In this case, proper inspection of all corresponding injectors will need to be administered. Replace any injector that is not pulsating correctly, or not spraying at an optimal level. Also, check the connections at the injectors for proper fit. re-seat, if needed.

  • NOTE_ if the check engine light flashes, or if it is, indeed, illuminated, this will indicate that a possible sensor(MAF/MAP) may be out of order. I would recommend to have the engine CPU scan for the proper DTC codes, asap. Post them here for further analysis, if possible.

Jerks and looses power on hills and flat land no engine light comes on what can be wrong?

When you said it feels like its not getting enough gas, you may be right.
Since you have replaced the fuel filter, and you are not getting a check engine light, my suggestion would be to check fuel pressure with a gauge. The fuel pump may be weak.

Clean your MAF (mass air flow sensor).

Google a Youtube video on how to do it.

You just need electrical parts cleaner or MAF cleaner.

My 96 manual legacy is losing pickup and takes a lot of patience to get to 40 mph. it feels like its bogged down and just revvs when i press the gas. pulled both cats and both are clear. exhaust is...

I just ran into this problem and mine ended up being a weak fuel pump. It worked enough to make it run and drive like you are describing but didn't pump enough to run like normal.
