Question about 1998 Volkswagen Jetta

1 Answer

1998 VW Jetta with 2.0L 4cyl. No oil pressure or oil flow that I can see. Full on oil though, but absolutely dry in the valves. How difficult is it to replace the oil pump? Could something else be the problem?

Did you have changed a cylinder head gasket? Possible turn around. If not need to change oil pump.It is easy.Just remove the sump but before that drain the oil because........Get new sump gasket. What about oil pressure lamp?Coming ON? If the engine runing and the lamp is ON change oil pump.

My 1998 VW Jetta TDI (230,000 miles) recently developed cold starting problems. I replaced the glow plugs with no change in starting performance. The problem seemed to start when an oil change tech put...

sluggish/cold start "problems"with any VW group product can be put down,in a lot of cases,to dirty injector nozzles, use redexe/wynns injector cleaner at 1 can to 1/2 tank fuel and you will feel a difference.as for the oil,VW group, use 10/40 semi synthetic in ALL their engines.(except w12 0/40)using a thin oil would pass the rings/valve guides and cause a carbon buildup inside the chamber......try it and see.....

1995 vw jetta gl air conditioner fuse 2.0 l

You may not be full of refrigerant... There is a low pressure switch that prevents the AC from actuating the clutch, and the reason is: IF there is not enough refrigerant, you will not be able to move oil through the system and you will have major damage...so no engauge...

Get the system checked, most likely there is a leak somewhere..

Are you using the specified grade of oil and oil filter? I know some some Volkswagens are really picky when it comes to the oil and won't like anything other than from the Volkswagen Dealership

OIl types for engine and transmission - 87 jetta

The engine oil specifications can be found on the top of the filler cap under your hood, as well as in the VW Owner's Manual under specifications. VW's produced from the late 1990's typically use 5W-30 motor oil, and in the 1980's they typically speced 10W-30 (API*,SL 10W-30) motor oil. Your car knows best, check those locations first.

2002 Jetta 1.8T random oil pressure warnings

Replace oil pump and use the bigger filter that Vw tells you to. These 1.8's have some oiling problems due to the amount of oil they hold and they want you to use synthetic oil in them.
