Fix the idle its to high

High idle in most cases is caused by a vacuum leak. Inspect the vacuum hoses and check the intake manifold gaskets as well as the throttle body boot for cracks or tares or loos connections on all areas previously mentioned. The idle is not adjustable and is factory set.

I have a 93 Nissan 300ZX 5-spd that will periodically stall out when braking to a stop.

the idle on the 300zx is supposed to be around 750-900 with the na being on the high end and turbo on the low end. sometimes when you clutch the revs drop and the engine does not recover enough. raising the idle to around 850 will help dramatically. also it would be a good idea to check for vacuum leaks as a severe enough one could also cause it to stall. another thing to look at would be if you clutch is fully disengaging. once slowing to a stop if the clutch is still catchin a little the car will stall. if you have a turbo car the clutch is vacuum assisted and the booster has been known to go out from time to time. i would investigate the vacuum and clutch booster

pictures of the correct vacuum routing can be found here, good luck bud let me know what you find

Wont smog

If the car idle on high rpm check if when you will step on the gas pedal over 2500 3000 rpm the car will start shaking and the will die if thats happening then check your mass air flo sensor ,or if there is no air leak that avoid the mass air flo sensor
