It could mean several things, but ultimately there is a problem somewhere in the electrical charging system. Either the battery is bad, the alternator is not charging, or possibly something as simple as a corroded connection bad enough for the system to see a voltage drop.
The word BATTERY is telling you the charging system isn't charging the battery ! Probably . Check for B+ voltage on the heavier gage wire on the alternator , if no B+ voltage there is a open fusible link Coming from the battery cable connected to the starter solenoid . The smaller gage wires , one goes to the PCM - engine computer an the other is a ground . You battery is dead too , from running the vehicle without charging system not working . Charge the battery or replace it , have it test etc...
your car has an alternator that is supposed to charge the battery. The light comes on when it doesn't. Most likely your alternator needs to be fixed, though it could simply be a loose fan belt.
"Battery charge system" means "Alternator" and the associated wiring.
" service charging system ", means you have an issue with your battery, your alternator, or your voltage regulator. Something is causing your battery not to charge properly. You should have it checked as soon as possible. This could keep your vehicle from starting next time.
If it continues have system checked by service station. The check charging system could be temporary until Battery is fully charged. If this caused any damage I would be suprised, we all have had battery drains from time to time.Good Luck.
Take the car to an autoparts store and have them test the battery and the alternator output. Most parts stores offer this service at no charge. This should help identify any problem with the charging system and it's free. Sure hope this helped and best wishes.
