1997 CADILLAC ELDORADO won't start just makes one click and nothing else. tried jump start but nothing.what can this be. Thank You

leak in your throttle body check the gasket .between the body and its base on the inlet manifold.

Alot of the time, "no start" situations can be traced back to the antitheft system. Especially in GM vehicles like your Cadillac. When this system fails, the antitheft system doesn't get the proper signal from your key. This puts they car into antitheft mode and turns off the starter to prevent theft. This may be your problem and worth looking into. Here iss a link that explains all about it.

These cars did have problems with the antitheft system. When this system fails, the car "thinks" it is at risk for theft, and disables the starter. I would look into this before you change the starter. This link explains.

it has a starter relay on it maybe going bad

Have you tested the new battery? Would not be the first bad battery I have seen come off the shelf. If the battery tests good check your battery cables.

1st make sure your connections at battery and starter are clean and tight. Next pull the battery out and have a parts store check it's condition. Even though the lights and radio work, it may be too weak to crank the engine over. If the battery checks out ok, then you are probably correct, it's the starter. Check in this order though, so you don't waste $ on parts you don't need. You don't want to pull the starter out to find it was a weak battery, or a bad connection (dirty or loose connection would prevent jump start from working.)

sounds like the motor burned up due to a bad bearing in the motor itself will have to replace the motor.

Go to dealer and purchase a lid pull down switch. Put it on. Fix car.

The solution is more than likely a new blower motor. Replacing this blower motor is no small task. I am in the process of doing it, but there is so little wiggle room that I suspect that if a cadillac mechanic does this job, they will jack up the engine/transaxle to make room. The motor itself is not cheap either, a replacement Delco is well over $200. I will let you know if my new motor install works.
