When your car reaches 30,000 miles, you will want to take it in for its 30,000 mile routine maintenance. Here is what you should expect at that checkup.

* Automatic transmission service: This will be a drain and flush of your transmission oil, a replacement of your transmission filter and a refill of the correct transmission fluid. They will also check for any potential leaks.

* Flush cooling system.

*Electric ignition general tune-up: During the tune-up, the mechanic will run computer checks and check the emissions. If needed, the spark plugs will be replaced and the car will be given an injection system service.

* Fluid levels: The mechanic will also check all fluid levels and do a general under-car condition inspection.

* Brakes: The brake pads will be checked to see if they are still within the correct thickness or if they have been worn down. If necessary, the brake pads may need to be replaced and the rotor machined.

* Steering and suspension: Both of these systems will be checked.

* Tires and wheels: Your wheel alignment will be checked, and, if necessary, they will be aligned to their proper specifications. The tires will be balanced and rotated (if necessary) and the tread on the tire will be checked for their thickness as well as any unusual tread wire. The wheel bearings will be repacked. The tires will also be checked for the correct tire pressure.

* Filters: The air and fuel filters will be replaced.

* Oil: If necessary, your car will also receive an oil change. It is vital that you change your car’s oil at least every 3,000 miles or 3 months (whichever comes first). It is okay to let this go to 5,000 miles, but, under no condition, should you let 7,500 miles pass before getting an oil change. They will also lubricate the chassis.

* Miscellaneous: The mechanic may check all of the lights (brake lights and headlights), check the condition of the coolant hoses, check the belts for tension as well as any wear, check the condition of the windshield wipers, test the charge of the battery and inspect for any fluid leaks.

I have 27000 miles on my Nissan Sentra (2006) 1.8S. For the last 3 months the "service engine soon light" has been staying on. I checked the gas cap, which clicked. But the light stays on. ...

Its telling you that you have a recommended service coming up at 30K miles. The dealer will reset the light when you bring the car in. Nissan recommends you to do your maintence's every 7500 miles. A 30K service will consist of an oil change, change air filter, coolant flush, replace PCV valve, in cabin air filter, along with checking many other systems in your vehicle. Hope this helps.

Does it require tune up

Regular Maintenance is vital to keeping your car on the road. The time and effort you put into keeping up with scheduled maintenance can save you big money in the long run.
Dealer 30k, 60k or 90k mile tune-ups can run from $250 for 3-4 hours of labor and basic maintenance, to over $1,000 at places with high labor costs and additional maintenance services, such as timing belt replacement.
If the mechanic identifies needed repairs, this can add a significant amount to your total.
At 90K repair shops normally replace the timing belt, or timing chain.
Your car require a tune up, if you have more than 30K on it. What kind of tune up your car needs depend on how many miles do you have on your car.

Transmission maintenance schedule. How often does the Factory recommend to change the transmission fluid. V6 w/4wd average use.

Usually a transmission service interval is every 30k miles. I would have it checked, or check it yourself, at 15k miles to see if it looks or smells burned (dark red in color with a pungent scent) to determine if it needs to be serviced before 30k miles.

What does the 60k mile maintenance entail? how much it cost?

The dealer will get top dollar for anything they do, or possibly persuade you to do. At 60k, besides check this or check that, it is wise to do air filter every15k, max 30k. Fuel filter every 15k, max 30k. cabin filter every15k. Spark plugs these days can go as high as 100k. Serpentine belt at 45-60k. Coolant flush and fill every 30k, or every 2-3 years. Rotate tires every 6-8k. Oil and filter change every 3-5k. Most of that 700.00 is probably labor at probably $100/hr. to check brakes, check tires, check battery, safety check, etc., run tests, install new filters. All these dealers have checklists they establish to give you full security and comfort in knowing your car is safe and reliable.. You seem to know a little about it...it's the old saying, don't fix it if it ain't broke. At least discuss it with them, and then make an educated decision.

When you put the shifter to drive position, transmission doesnt move, when in hot engine running. why?

Check your automatic transmission fluid level. It's most likely low, very old and burned, or both. Bad transmission fluid is brownish and gives off a strong burning odor. If your fluid level is just low, you may have a leak. If you park your car in the same spot everyday, look for a pool of fluid. If not, leave some newspaper under the car when you park it. When you return, check the newspaper for fluid. Depending on how many miles you have on the car, changing the fluid would be a good idea, especially if it has more than 60k miles. Most cars require changing transmission fluid every 30k miles and since your car is newer, I'm assuming it was changed at the 30k mile service check. I hope this answers your question. Best of luck.

Replaced starter relay, as it met the rules for

You need to have the alternator tested as well. If you have a good battery but a bad alternator, it could take a while for the battery to discharge enough to cause there not to be enough power to engage the starter.

Also check your ground, not just at the battery, but at the engine block as well. Hope this helps/.

I am looking for a 1988 mercedes 560sl service manual with the scheduled 50,000-60,000-70,000-80,000-90,000 and 100,000 mile service or what is suggested at these intervals.

your vehicle is serviced in mainly 15,000 mile increments. 30k are the bigger of the 2. 60k is the biggest. oil is changed every 5k. at 15k change oil and spark plugs check air filter and inspect vehicle. at 30k replace trans fluid and filter as well and at 60k replace fuel filter. change oil on schedule and replace your timing chain and guide rails if vehicle has 100k or more miles-at least have them inspected because the chains do break. After oil change disable ignition and build up oil pressure before vehicle fires off. the chain tensioners are hydraulic

60,000 mile timing chain maitenance

Your Lancer should have a timing belt. There is no grace period on changing them, follow what the manufacturer says. You have a interference engine and should the belt fail while you are driving down the highway engine damage will happen.
